Does any one know about these guys? I know there are some original and some pirated copies of Telugu DVDs. My question is whether they sell the original if available for the DVDs from EVP and others?

Their customer service is good. But they sell a lot of pirates. So dont order from them unless you know that the DVDs are original. You can perhaps speak to them before ordering

Thanks Jag,
Yesterday I have placed an order with them and send an email about the originality of the disks.
To my surprise the Customer Service guy called me and explained about the DVD's. So I have changed my order and ordered all EVP DVD's, which he claims as original and carry all the EVP titles and seems like pretty reasonable prices ($12.99 each) too. I will let you know once I receive the package.

ganti,
almost an year back I ordered a whole bunch of EVP titles from them for less than 9.99(K.Vishwanath Classics) each. All look like originals and I have no complaints about their customer service.

But, they are popularly known to be the main supplier of pirated Telugu DVDs which is the cause why companies like EVP are scared to buy DVD rights to many movies as ragalahari are already selling a pirated version of the movie.

Also, check http://www.nymtv.com. they are too good prices on some of them.

Kp,
Seems like $11.99 for EVP title is a good price. I did not find the shipping rates in the site. Do you have experience with them (nymtv.com).
And can you name some other EVP titles that are as good as Santosham?

ganti,
nymtv.com charges $1.99 for shipping 1 or more DVDs. So, it saves to order in bulk. I ordered recently 4 DVDs from them including hard to find Mr. Pellam as they showed in stock. But I got only 2 of the 4 I ordered. Mr. Pellam is not in stock. So, to date they did not charge me even though I got 2 of my DVDs. They are waiting to find them. If they can't find they will charge me for the 2 DVDs I got already.

Of the 2 DVDs I received I had problem with EVP's Subhalagnam which didn't play the last 30+ minutes of the movie. They wanted to replace that promptly but I decided to replace it directly with EVP.

Other EVP titles that are of Santhosham quality:
Subhalagnam (Anamorphic)
Family Circus (Anamorphic)
Saptapadi
Shubhodayam
Sankarabaranam
Sagarasangamam
Sithara
Swarnakamalam(film source little shitty but the quality of Video is good)

I rented and watched lot of their other DVDs and almost all are of good quality except few old balck and white titles which they used terrible source and also some old chiranjeevi movies like Nyayam Kavali are of poor video quality. Even Shiva was done using very poor film source.

KP,
Thanks for the input. $1.99 for the entire order right? So it is very good. I have same problem with Allari Alludu, it does not play last 45 minutes of the movie. I brought it from Indofilms a while back. Even I tried with disk doctor. Could you give me the contract number of EVP so that I will try to exchange that also?

EVP Sudhakar's contact (281) 240-2822.

Don't bother leaving him voice mail. Just keep trying and you should get him. Once you ship him your DVD, you need to call him a week later or so and remind him to mail your replacement. He is a kind of slow response person but nice. He will like any comments you have to improve their DVDs.

Good Luck!

krishna,

ragalahari does not have the largest catalog of pirated titles. That dubious honor goes to 1800imall and indianmovies

For wahtever its worth I asked the guy from ragalahari.com why he was selling Vasu and he said that EVP didnt give them a release date and hence he doesnt want to lose business. He claimed that the DVDs were pirated in India and he is just carrying them

jag,
i agree. I think teluguone.com is another famous site. I think if a DVD store has to survive just selling DVDs they probably have to sell pirated DVDs as there are very few originals out there. Moreover, it's almost impossible for most stores to research to find whether it is original or pirate.

I asked my local store to discourage selling/renting pirated DVDs and he tried to do that but his suplier mentioned that he can't spend time investigating whether the telugu DVDs he gets are original or pirated ones. Some even complain that EVP is not supplying the DVDs as demanded. The only website that has almost all EVP titles is indofilms.com and looks like there is some contract between EVP and indofilms.

If I have to buy some new titles like cheli or 12B, indofilms is the only option. All this will make sites like ragalahari sell more pirates to stay in business. All this makes the future for Telugu DVDs look more pathetic.

I have placed order for 12B, Santhosham and Sagarasangamam from Ragalahari for $12.99 each. But I would have brought them from nymtv for $11.99 if I know it before.
