Arsh,
Did you check your DEEWANA MASTANA dvd by using Sknath technique? May be the one you have is in film mode and Judai is not.

I just checked DEEWANA MASTANA vs JUDWAA again!

Judwa is..indeed single layer, with low bit rate, mostly under five. SOUND shows DD5.1 with 384kb/sec rate.Sound is more discrete, but lousy and FLAT, no FIZZ!!

Deewana Mastana..is Dual layer dvd, bit rate stays mostly, above five, consistently, 6,7-8,9 pretty good for video sound disc. Sound..shows 384 kb/sec???(now when I hear it, Deewana Mastana is more fuller, less discrete sound, diologues might be in 2 channels, but songs in pseudo 5.1?? some body explain this phenomenon now?)Programe format shows all diff channels encoded!!??YKHRH!

Arsh,
Come on yaar, What are the test results for the film mode (24 step) vs. Video Mode (30 Step)?
Perhaps your DVD player is interpreting both of them as Interlaced. But because of the high bit rate and solid colors Deevan Mastana looking better. Or both of them are indeed in film mode and for the same reason it is looking better.

Arsh,
May be Sknath can give you the instructions properly for the step test. But in Power DVD go to the settings and change it to ForceWeave and try if you can see combing across the image in the action scenes

Well! when Nath will be kind enough? i dont know? But i took some shots from JUDWAA action scenes and tried to get a few from DEEWANA MASTANA..man! that film, just has fun, barely any action? lol, Ok, u have icq? so I can send u, I think, on motion DEEWANA MASTANA shows combing effect?

But from Shots u can see, how overall, PQ is far more pleasant and LOVELY on DEEWANA MASTANA!!
BTW, film is better than JUDWAA too, BTW!

I think by mistake U mentioned JUDAII...I have that too, another of my all time FAVOURITE film, with BAD DVD transfer!

Judaii, might be in video mode too, but noway, PQ close to DEEWANA MASTANA! colors are off, and UNNATURAL, RED MASK/filter effect that I hate! :baaa: :bangbang:

sknath doesn't seem to be on the forum today. So, let me show the steps for frame count for Arsh.

Arsh, I have Sony DVD player, and you have a Sony player as well. So the count technique and results should be consistent.

Freeze Fame/ Pause.
Advance Frame by pressing "STEP". Count it a step only if step flashes on the screen. This will, consistently, show 24 steps per sec for easy to detect Film Mode (as flags are set)and 30 steps per sec for Video mode where a Film mode is difficult to detect (because flags are not detected).

Rana

P.S.
Ganti, can you show me the technique for Force Weave on Power DVD??

Arsh,
Thanks for the screen shots. OW my god Deewan Mastana colors are very good, so as sharpness. But the combing does indicate interlaced. Probably your DVD player recognizes the flags and making it progressive and it looks lot better than Judwaa. Even though Judwaa is in film mode with less bit rate and lock of color depth makes it look bad.
I have a same problem with EVP Telugu titles they are interlaced but they have very good colors and Sharpness and with my RP56 I can get 30% improvement in the image compared to my HTPC image.

I guess we need some body to explain it in proper way?

Rana,
It is very simple. Just change the video setting. Change it to ForceWeave. And the DVD's that are authorized in Video mode shows combing in action scenes.

Hi Ganti and Arsh,

Arsh's Sony DVD player weaves the frames on Deewana Mastana successfully making it a proper Film DVD and hence is better than JUDWAA. A bit rate of only 2 (JUDWAA) can't compete with a bit rate of over 5 (DEEWANA MASTANA), when both have succeeded in creating original Film Frames.

What I wonder is, If Deewana Mastana stays interlaced (combing is not accepted) and an inferior JUDWA is de-interlaced successfully, then which PQ is better??

Thanks.

Rana

Rana! there is no combing while viewing the film, on my dvd player in prog scan mode at all!! Combing is created on per advise of ganti, by changing powerdvd4 setting from auto to Force Weave! for testing purposes!

Now! Theoratically..Judwaa should be better!...not really!

Practically DEEWANA MASTANA is better PQ for viewing..that should be Worse otherwise!

I would really appreciate Screen shots of Yes boss!too.

Judaii..I just saw, is not a GOOD TRANSFER!

Khamoshi..looks ABYSMAL.

Need to check BMCM and SOORYAVANSHAM then!!

BTW!! still waiting for ur input on question of WORKABLE/Eng/Chinese/Japenese subtitles on DEEWANA MASTANA!!?

Secondally, If u can get Yes Boss shots, can u plsss, post or send it to me..Thnx :baaa: :
