Can't watch it here. Only watchable at orig youtube site.
Can you paste the link ??

- my Esquire VHS onto DVD is full 1974 version, 223 min video (232 min film). 1964 version was 238 min.

- As per your post, looks like Shemaroo did come up with 212 min 13 sec version, same as YRFs. (Still not full 232 min 1974 CC version or 238 min 1964 version).
Is it a new Shemaroo encoding or just a copy of YRF version. If youtube visible, one can check if it has Shemaroo PQ or YRF PQ ??

I hope Shemaroo restores this version properly and releases it on Blu-Ray and DVDs.

To me, it looks like a Shemaroo print. It doesn't look like a YRF copy. It could be. I'm not sure.

I remember Natalie saying that the Russian DVD she had was 212 mins long.

So this probably is copied from the Russian edition.

It sure looks like Shemaroo new encoding. Colors are better than old YRF DVD. Good that they got the same version as YRF's. 212 min min video, most likely is 4% speed up, covering 221 min of film time out of 232 min 1974 CC and 238 min of 1964 run time.

I've not seen the complete video. Do the sequences, deleted on the Shemaroo version look like VHS prints?

Another Sangam upload from Shemaroo:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NRhGDxELN8

This one is for rent or purchase SD only. Running time 3 hours 31 mins. From the preview it looks good (i.e. better than the DVDs) but not restored and of course not the complete film (based on the original release's running time).

Incidentally - I can hear the Pal speedup in the songs in the preview so this most likely is a cleaned up version of the YRF source for their DVD.

For those who are interested, Shemaroo have just uploaded Sangam on to their YouTube channel, showing a run time of 3 hours 32 minutes.

The print quality is perhaps the best of all versions. For some reason, the songs are at an even higher pitch atop the 4% shift due to PAL speedup. Pity that they cropped it, and DAMN that watermark logo.

That's an excellent looking version from Shemaroo. Make sure you watch it in 1080 P setting.

Can't judge presently if it's 4% speed up twice. At 211 min, assuming 4% speed up once, makes it 220 min film time. Still 12-13 min shorter than 1974 CC time of 232-233 min. This Shemaroo video is same run time as YRF DVD, but as I noticed, this vdeo has beginning Sunder Gopal Radha sequence in full and perhaps beginning credits too, that were 4.5 min cut in YRF DVD. So, there must be another 4.5 min that is in YRF DVD but is not in this Shemaroo video.

So, taking clips from YRF DVD for what's missing in this Shem video, Available video becomes 216 min (225 min film time). Still 7-8 min shorter than 1974 version which is avail in full in Esquire VHS.

--------------------------------------------------
See page 3, 4, 5, for discussion/ details of various missing segments.

The songs are definitely sped up twice. I had to compare them with the existed Shemaroo version, which itself runs 4% faster than original film time.

Assuming that the entire movie has been sped up twice, film time comes down to approx 229 minutes. And the length of the film is known to be 231 minutes, as suggested by the 1974 censor certificate.
Thus if it all the speed shift is higher, the movie must contain almost the same content as the 1974 version.

CORRECTION: 1974 version is 232 min and not 238 min. So, my comment here does not make any sense.
I'm not sure if the orig theatrical runtime in 1964 was 238 min. Has any one seen 1964 cc or it's screen grab ?? the 238 min run time is from the 1974 re-issue of the cc,the one that has been floating around in various video versions. Esquire VHS that I still have, has the full 1974 version 238 min content and the 1974 cc.

I suspect 1964 version was a bit longer as a few segments seem to be missing in the 1974 version. There were also some, rumored, other filmed scenes that never made the 1964 cut.
