I believe all B.R. Chopra films are available on EAGLE now

I hope this version is better than Shemaroo :stupid:

LOL!! I seriously hope its better than the Shemaroo version. Hopefully, its sharper and progressive and ANAMORPHIC!!
Did it read anamorphic?? Do you remember the running time and other details??
What did they say for the aspect ratio??

Can't remember but nothing on an eagle cover should be trusted ;-)

I swear :) !! Almost all details are incorrect. Their full screen movies always read "1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen"
But lately, they've started labeling 4:3 full screen movies correctly.

I hope Shemaroo has authored this disc (better than their earlier crap). They were the ones to authorize Hrishikesh Mukherjee movies' BRDs for Seagull :D

If I find it, I'll buy it and if it turns out to be crap, I'll throw it into the bin :-P

Let me elaborate...

Its Pseudo Progressive. Very dark and extremely soft.

The audio too is nothing special. i reckon its front heavy (like the shemaroo version, but way poorer and slightly compressed)

Shemaroo version too had front heavy audio but was darn good...

Verdict : Stay away!!

The brighter side is that there's no watermark logo 8)

I just realized that the Eagle DVD is Progressively encoded. Going step by step shows me no "double images" . Clear images were formed.

But I'd choose the Shemaroo version which is Pseudo Progressive and has better colors, audio, brightness and sharpness.

On the other hand, the Shemaroo version is one with a watermarked logo. So the Eagle disc may be the better choice. Both the discs contradict each other.

A couple of things that I loathed - the cropping to make it widescreen ... looking at the delated scenes on the DVD I think that they trimmed scenes that looked very bad if cropped.

I took another glance at the "deleted" scenes from the extra DVD of Naya Daur, and felt something looked super odd. On comparing those images with clips from the B/W version of YouTube, I realized that the clips of the extras' disc were doubly cropped - once vertically (the same way the main feature was chopped), and then again, from the sides to fit the picture onto a 4:3 frame. I really wonder what stopped them from cropping the main feature the same way, for the non-anamorphic treatment itself wasn't enough insult to injury. :P
