I believe it's the b&w version (earlier done by shemaroo who also did the colour version)

Excellent! Lagaan of its time! Colorized butchered its soul.

I agree with Arsh. The colouring totally f*ked it up

Its a film that should left the way it originally is, like Sholay

I personally think that the colorization of ND is far more superior than that of M-E-A. At least it looks somewhat real, where MEA looks completely painted, even the original Technicolor scenes which restorers have fucked up to make them identical to the colorized portions.

And Shemaroo doesn't have the decency to give the movies some depth and 3D feel by digital enhancement.

I bet if DEI would have done these movies they wouldn't have given you the feel of an artificially colorized film.

I find Naya Daur somewhat pixilated.

Excellent job. I wonder, why couldn't the professionals colorize the film like you did ??

I wouldn't mind colorizing the old B/W films the way you did. But, the way they've been colorizing so far, I would rather prefer the orig B/W.

Main difference that I find in your coloring is that you were able to remove the blacks and greys successfully. It was the black and grey leftover from "Hum Dono" colorized frame that I commented, one time, that it makes beautiful Sadhna look like a rag picker.

I understand that colorizing is a tedious job. Frame to Frame colorization takes place. That is why they make mistakes. I'm talking about MEA and ND.

Whereas in HD, they did an extremely shoddy job. Most of the B/W content was visible. The backgrounds always looked grey and black. Even skin tones, as you said, Mr. Rana.

Their choice of colors also sucked. The characters' lips were colored badly (black, brown, purple)

and they claimed to be "professionals" and "better than the MEA colorization team".

TBH, Naya Daur colorization was the best. Looked sharp, crisp and natural. But at someplaces you can easily see grey and black shades (watch the last dance scene)

But MEA didn't look natural, but I didn't see any grey and black shades.

What I did to this pic :

• I took the colored frame from the movie

• Sharpened it using Photo! Editor (manual deblurring) and I got great crispness.

• Increased the gamma and brightness (since this shot was from a bright, sunny day) and then the contrast to set it right (so that the whites look white and the blacks look black)

• Added warmth, increased the saturation and made the tint slightly pink to enhance skin tones and to get rid of the minute gray and black tones

• Removed the black bars and got the aspect ratio of 1.78 (I bet Shemaroo has cropped the sides slightly ) and made the shot 16:9 ensuring no distortion

BTW, for those who think that I've colorized the shot, its not true. I've just edited the color frame
