- May 29, 1980 Film CC shows 4802.9 or 4892.9 meters (175 or 178 min)

- EROS DVD is 155 min. I couldn't figure out if it's 4% sped up or not. If 4% speed up, it's 161 min film time.

- Esquire VHS: 174 min. I can't figure out if it's 4% speed up or nor. Most likely it's not 4% speed up as if it was, it brings film time to 181 min which is more than the film time noted on CC.

- EROS DVD print is similar to other Video to DVD transfers of that time but is definitely a lot better than Esquire VHS.

- There also exists a Shemaroo DVD. Anyone has that ?? What's is its run time and how is the PQ ??

Assuming EROS DVD @ 4% speed up and VHS at normal speed, EROS DVD has 13 min missing. Upto 65 min mark (3rd song) in EROS DVD, only 1.5 min is missing and At 105 min of EROS DVD (start of last song: Dil Dhadak Raha Hai), it's 13 min missing. Implies that 11 min is missing between 3rd song and the 4th (last) song at 105 min mark. And, then to the end (105-155 min), nothing is missing in (Climax) EROS DVD.

What's missing in EROS DVD: Mainly it's one full film reel (10 min). At 81:30 min mark, Jeetender hijacks Waheeda Rehman-Ashok Kumar car and in the next 30 sec footage Waheeda is shown to suspect Jeetender's resemblence to her dead fiancee.
After that, 10 min is missing:
- Jeetender, Ashok Kumar Waheeda segment continues where Ashok Kunar figures out that Jeetender is Waheeda's son.
- Moushmi tells Jeetender that his sister loves Vinod Mehra and convinces Jeetender to take a new ID. Jeetender slowly transforms into a wealthy man.
- Vinod Mehra joins Police Force and does interrogate his mother Waheeda Rehman.
- Ashok Kumar confirms to Waheeda that Jeetender in fact is her son that she was told was born dead.

----------------------------------------------
Film is interesting enough and it goes on like a Soap Opera. No major surprises but plenty of chapters that even if missing, won't make much difference to the story and its ending, and on the other hand, it works fine with all the footage.

Songs:

1) Kisi Din Uth Gya Jo Mera Haath, Balam Aisa Maroongi (Rekha)

2) Dilwalo Matwalo, Do Din Haslo Gaa Lo (Tel Maalish, Karalo Boot Polish) (Sarika and Moushmi Chatterjee)

3) Jogan Hoon Main (Sarika, Vinod Mehra: Vishwa Mitr, Menka dance drama)

4) Dil Dhadak Raha Hai, Iska Kya Sabab Hai (Vinod Mehra, Sarika, Jeetender, Moushmi)

---------------------------------------------------------

Sanjeev Kumar makes a guest appearance for about 30 sec, in the role of Karan in a TV serial.
(I don't think, Sanjeev Kumar ever appeared as Karan in any TV serial ?? Or, may be he did shoot some scenes and passed away before completing the assignment and someone replaced him in the TV serial ??)

Hi rana i was lent the dvd of Jyoti Bane Jwala shemarooo by my cousin and the run time is 2 hours 45 minutes 53 seconds i haven't watched this movie yet but plan to soon but won't be watching this shemaroo dvd as its not full compared to Great Esquire tape due to run time. the picture quality is very sharp as well ,I have also found from a friend Pen company vcd and the runtime is 165:60 which my cousin lent me so i took some screenshots but not a lot cos i don't spoil the movie for myself yet but heres just a scene i like a lot and encouraged me to get this movie

165:60 min VCD time is for sure 4% speed up, meaning 172 min of film time which is almost full length. This implies that the 10 min film reel that I said is missing in EROS DVD, is IN in PEN VCD. Then, most likely Shemaroo DVD too is the same 4% sped up, meaning 166 min PAL to NTSC converted DVD or 172 min film time.

- Anyway, I did copy the Esquire VHS on DVD but haven't succeeded in making copies out of of that DVD. Whatever, I'll be sending you that DVD in a day or two.
(Somehow I have succeeded converting 2-3 VHSs into DVD using Sony DVD Recorder, have been able to Finalize them to play in other DVD players, but have not been able to make further copies from the DVD. Don't know why ??)

Quote:
UPDATE: Finally did succeed copying DVD Recorder recorded disc. DVD Fab encounters problem, but Nero "Copy Disc" does make copy successfully. Still not sure if it's a normal DVD or not, but it does play on any DVD Player.

-------------------------
I hope, PEN DVD company brings out a DVD of this film. PEN DVDs so far have been very good PQ, almost like old DEI.

Another VHS that mrhsinghk1 asked for:

Dharam Aur Kanoon (1984 ??):
I have a copy from HVI VHS. From the VHS, CC is not very clear but it seems to be 4419 meters which should be 161 min and the VHS is 162 min. It's direct Film to NTSC and hence there is no 4% speed up. Print is OK.
(AR: @ Film CC, it's 2.5:1 and changes to 1.95:1 as the film stars)

Meri Zubaan (1988):
I have a copy from Asian/ Atlantic/ Kings VHS. From the VHS, CC is not very clear but it seems to be 4126 meters but it does not seem right. 4126 meters means 150 min but the VHS is 150 min and is 4% speed up making it 156 min film time. (4219 m = 154 min, 4319 m = 157 min)
Print is extremely bad that instead of color, it seems to be brown and white and I had marked this VHS to erase, since 1980s.
((AR: Film CC, as well as, the film is 4:3. Surprise that in 1988, they still made 4:3 films ??)

(Other VHSs mrhsinghk1 asked for, Waqt Ki Deewar, Yaari Dushmani, Sharara, I don't have)

Checked my list and I don't have those 3 VHSs.

I'm in the process of making an Excel list (40% done) of my VHSs and will send you & Muz, a copy. about 200 originals and 14-1500 copies, mostly at slow speed. So far the VHSs you asked are full length copies but in those days I was notorious for chopping of portions, that I found redundant, from my copies (VHS blanks used to be $ 10 - $ 20). I guess, about 10% of my copies could be heavily cut, mostly during mindless car chases and obvious dishum dishum fighting.

Hi yaar that would be great the list of the movies you have onto excel page but a quickier way to make a list which i did was getting 10-15 vhs tapes and using my camera take a pic of the front label to idnetify them as it is very very hard work to type them in excel. And you're right that you got rid of the time waste sequences in the vhs copies cos i wish i could do the same with the tradgdy scenes fight scenes car chases etc as there waste scenes to me. Vhs blanks were expensive as hell back in the 80s 90s so triming was needed. I will also send you the pics of the movies i have on vhs in pics form and also i have many other vhs i want to request but will send you send the list soon as well

Sure, I'll share my VHS list. I think it's better to share it via e-mail or thru zulm PM.
I'll let you know in this thread, when I'm done typing my list and then we can share e-mail address etc.
