You must have read about Sholay being converted into 3D ??

There also was a news, in the last week or two, that Ramesh Sippy, Director of Sholay, went to court to block the 3D conversion of Sholay and lost the case as he does not have the rights to Sholay anymore. The rights are with other members of his family (cousins; Ramesh Sippy had resigned from Sippy Films Board Of Directors) who are going full steam converting Sholay into 3D.

Yes - it is a sad state of affairs. The oldest movie I have on VHS was Acchut Kanya (1936). Managed to preserve it on DVD and this version is now also on YouTube.

Never seen any DVD of this movie at all and it is a shame as it was a ground breaking film.

Good idea. Signed.

We should spread this petition around, maybe we can get this thing really going... I'd KILL to have a Blu-ray with both endings!

I caught a 10 minute preview of the 3D version of Sholay at Whistling Woods International (http://whistlingwoods.net/Cinema100/). The sequence that was shown was the opening train sequence. Though the print was stellar in quality, I thought that a 3D conversion was hardly necessary. There were only two instances of 3D in this 10 minute train sequence. The first was when a bullet hit the screen and the second instance was when a log hit the screen. But still, it was great to catch a glimpse of Sholay from a 70mm print (sure about this fact as I have asked one of the persons who is working on this 3D conversion). The 3D conversion is being done at Whistling Woods International. From what I have heard, it should be done by the end of this year.

Why don't we have a petition for a blu ray of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Mughal-E-Azam. The former is a nice movie and the latter is an immortal classic which needs to be there on blu ray.

The latter has also been restored with color with music redone

I know that, but doesn't this immortal classic in color, deserve to be on blu ray?

What I should have said was that everything is in place for it to be on blu ray.
Or maybe they are waiting for "MORE MULLAH"

I think he meant 'moolah', i.e. more money.

I suppose we could have a petition for Mughal-E-Azam blu-ray as well.
