Famous 'Ram-Lakhan jodi' returns in Shootout at Wadala
Whether it was the cop-chasinggoon routine in films like "Andar Baahar" and "Ram Lakhan", or the ‘brothers caught on different sides of the law’ drill in movies like "Parinda", Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor shared screen space in a slew of films, and successfully at that.
Last seen together in Rajkumar Santoshi’s "Lajja", the actors are set to re-unite on reel after a gap of twelve years in Sanjay Gupta’s "Shootout At Wadala", produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Late Wednesday, Jackie was signed up for a cameo in Gupta’s film. When contacted, Jackie confirmed the development and said, “Ãt’s been more than a decade since Anil and I worked together. I am really looking forward to getting back on the sets with him.â€
Anil too is excited about it. Jackie has worked before with Gupta in two films - "Ram Shastra" (1995) and "Jung" (2000).
Asked about the cameo, Gupta revealed, “Jackie will essay the role of a police commissioner. He has a great sense of humour. He is fun, and can make a very tense moment seem easy.â€
Meanwhile, a source said Jackie plays the cop, who orders Afaq Bhagwan, Anil Kapoor’s character, to gun down Manya Surve, portrayed by John Abraham, in an encounter. “There is a confrontation between them, which is one of the highlights of the film,†said the source. "Today is the last day of the film and I am playing the role of a Commissioner along with the inspector. It feels great that we working together after so long. We have done many films together, especially Ram-Lakhan," Shroff said.
"He was a Rangeela inspector then who use to do all the wrong things. And today I have become a Commissioner and he has become a decent inspector. So it's great to see that. As you can see he is my Lakhan and whatever he has done with me in the scene is outstanding and I really liked it," he added.
