I got my BluRay Gift Box and I am really disappointed by the packaging

It is a very thin plastic box nothing in comparision with the Lagaan Box and the TZP Box.
As you can guess my box didnt survive the shipment from India and has cracks all over.
I am a DVD collector and like to have all in a proper condition.

The gift box has the BluRay and DVD
a painting
soundtrack
a diary

All the covers are coming in a damaged state itself from the company and how ever u pack it the plastic case gets messed up on the way. We have requested the company not the release any more covers like this.

The box set I got looked exactly the same as yours Banditqueen. In poor condition. I'm surprised that Aamir Khan would make soo much effort to produce a multi facet bluray for this film and leave us hanging with such poor package presentation. On the up side, it does include the original soundtrack, which, prior to this release, I had been searching everywhere for it.

I wrote to Excel directly and this is their answer

Quote:
Let me assure you that all components of the Dhobi Ghat Collector's
Edition box are of the best quality we could make under the economies of
the product. Hence, the PVC box was never meant for storing of the
contents once purchased by the consumer. Besides keeping the overall cost
of packaging down, the intent is to also keep the contents visible at all
times

For me a gift package includes the box.
The Lagaan box was great from Excel.
OK I luv special editions and have great boxes from South Korea, HK and Japan.

Ok, here's where indiatimes may not be correct: Excel haven't had any trader/retailer yet complaining or saying that 'all the covers are coming in a damaged state' nor has anybody requested them to not release any more covers like this. In fact, many customers have appreciated the value it delivers.

Their argument is that this at Rs.1199/- MRP that includes a Blu-ray + DVD in a Steelbook(TM) w/ a design especially keeping the aura & premiumness intact, then a Music CD, a Painting that isn't an A4 or A3 size but bigger with Ravi Mandlik's signature printed on the back, a book designed by Sukanya Ghosh... they needed to be shown from the outside and only a transparent PVC box could do this without taking the overall cost up manifolds unnecessarily :-)

Given the overall value it delivers, I totally buy this argument.

Yes I understand their point of view but it is not equal to mine.
All I wished was a bit more stable box and not to throw it away afterwards.
I am DVD/BR collector and I enjoy special boxes.

Absolutely -- I too enjoy the collector boxes.

In this case, Excel simply did not think of this as a boxed product...

watched this last night. PQ and AQ is superb, one of the most filmic looking hindi BDs I've seen and an extremely well balanced audio track.

More importantly, its actually quite a good film and the type of film that India needs to embrace and make more of. Not perfect by any means but with a great sense of mood, finely tuned performances, and real characterisation.
