Yeah Folks Time to get rid off your YRF version of Awara for 2 reasons :-

1.) Its more expensive vis-a-vis the Shemaroo version
2.) Compare the screenshots shown below with the YRF versions which you can find Here http://www.zulm.net/modules....sid=159 :-

My Recommendation... Ditch the YRF version and grab the Shemaroo version.. ( Pay special attention to the Contrasts !.. Also the audio is clean and on a much higher notch vis-a-vis the YRF version )

For Folks in Toronto, you can grab them @ Apollo Video

mastering on the Shemaroo DVD?

Sorry folks couldnt write that in time ! I was setting my Friend's computer system and checked some DVDs on his system (which is a complete 5.1 system).

Now as Rana has pointed out I got those DVds from a friend who came back from Toronto and purchased those DVds for me.

Incidently I have also asked Afzal @ Zulm to procure them for me but havent yet got back any news from him. Apparently his source promised him a deadline till Memorial Day ....

For Folks In Canada :-
Contact Apollo Video in Toronto and get all those DVDs
But avoid the PHOOL AUR PATTHER dvd which also has a Shemaroo logo but that is a pirate !

I am gonna post screenshots of Satyam Shivam Sundaram also and will soon be getting Shree 420 also from them :)
Enjoy !

Hey Hafner...
I didnt notice excessive DVNR in this DVD, but the Prem Rog DVD has some noticeable motion blurring due to excessive usage of DVNR (which I feel is wierd considering that Awara is much older than Prem Rog).

Now this definately indicates a progressive transfer but It doesnt explain the double natured images which Rana had mentioned abt and for which you have replied ( I havent seen those kinda stuff with this DVD).

I don't think they are moving towards selling the replicated discs ... they are trying to get them cos, they had special request by people on these forums ..

fair enuff goodbadmas!! as long as they are trying but believe me if they do decide to sell them it'll be replicated discs!! cos shemaroo dont have rights to sell outside india and secondly the only source of these films are replicated ones that IW and others are selling

theres seems to be this two faced hypocrisy from sknath, IW and IP saying that these discs are not pirated!! the ones replicated from originals that have the same quality as the original DVD are deemed ok to sell as originals!!

wait and see wot IBB do

I, too, was told that Shemaroo DVDs, sold in America, are replicated by someone here. Shemaroo in India too, have said that they won’t ship outside India, but suggested to get their DVDs through someone, if you know, in India (mentioned in another thread; forgot which one). Some Shemaroo labeled (cheater) DVDs are worst than 10th generation VHS copies, while some are fantastic, almost as good as DEI.

It will be great if Shemaroo DVDs purchased in India can be compared with good Shemaroo DVDs (like Awara, SSS, Prem Rog, Mughl-e-Azam) available in America for clarification of the following scenarios:

What do you think, is the scenario:

1) Some exporter/ Importer is sending Shemaroo DVDs outside of India?
2) Shemaroo DVD bought in India is being copied in America resulting in some loss of quality?
3) Shemaroo authored software has been transferred outside of India?
4) Shemaroo DVD in America has been successfully copied, “exactly-exactly” the same as original?

Even though, good Shemaroo DVDs available in America are better than legit brands available here, I would like to get Shemaroo DVDs directly from India if they are any better in quality than ones available here. Legit or Ilegitt doesn’t matter to me/ us. Quality does.

Rana
