Has anyone seen the following films?

Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye (1973)
Kartavya (1979)

Are the following songs picturised on Rekha, or on dancers like Bindu or Aruna Irani?

Chain Se Humko Jeene Na Diya (Pran Jaye....) (Asha Bhosle)
Mera Dil Leke Leke Chal diye (Kartavya) (Asha Bhosle)

Thanks

Rekha's role in Pran Jaaye Par Vachan Na Jaye is that of Singer/ Dancer in Dacoit background. So, most likely it's filmed on her. I don't think there was another side heroine or dancer in this film.

I'll check tonite from my VHS.

(Kartvya, Mera Dil Le Ke ----, definitely filmed on her.)

Actually, RANA Saab, Many of the songs in PRAN JAYE PAR VACHAN NA JAYE are filmed on Bindu. But the song I mentioned is a sad song so its unlikely to be picturised on a vamp!

Another question?

Tedhe Medhe Oonche Neeche Raaste from RAASTE PYAR KE (1981). Is that one filmed on REKHA or SHABANA AZMI?

Also, other songs from KARTAVYA like Koi Ayega Layega Dil Ka Chain? Was this one filmed on Rekha too!

Thanks again

I'll check both Kartavya and PJPVNJ tonite. It has been long time, I saw either of these two.

RAASTE PYAR KE (1981) stars Jeetendra, Rekha, and Shabana Azmi. No doubt, its a love triangle of some sort! Tedhe Medhe Oonche Neeche Lambe Lambe Raaste Pyar Ke, Kya Pata Kaun Kab Kahan Baith Jaye Thak Haar ke is a very philosophical song of Lata Mangeshkar.

Another film of REKHA that had two heroines is MEHANDI RANG LAYEGI (1982), also starring Jeetendra and Anita Raaj. I often wondered which songs were filmed on Rekha and which ones were picturised on ANITA RAAJ...

I dont remember much about MEHANDI RANG LAYEGI as I dont have it on video, and it has not been released on DVD. I have the songs on CD along with MAANG BHARO SAJNA.

JEEVAN DHARA is one of Rekha's classics... Shuman did a very comprehensive thread on it, together with screenshots, a few months ago.

Clearly my knowledge of Rekha's songs is not very good, but I am burning a CD for a friend with her songs....

IJAAZAT - everybody knows that one!!

Khaali Haath Sham Aayi hai - Now, there is another heroine in the film, some Anuradha... I wonder if this song was filmed on Rekha or the other heroine? Gulzar's AWARD winning Mera Kuch Samaan Kho Gaya has got to be filmed on Rekha?

Guess you have not invested on the WEG DVD of IJAAZAT.... If you have, here are the 4 songs - can you tell me who they are filmed on.... I think one of them plays in the background during the title credits:

1. Chhotisi Kahani Se, Badalon Ke panni Se
2. Mera Kuch Samaan Tumhara Paas Pada Hai
3. Katra Katra Milti Hai, Katra Katra Jeene Do
4. Khali Haath Sham Aayi Hai

Did you know that the only NATIONAL AWARD Gulzar has won was as a lyricist for the song MERA KUCH SAMAAN. All his other awards were just filmfare awards.

1. Chhotisi Kahani Se, Badalon Ke panni Se..this is from MASOOM, not Ijazat..Picturized on Shabana Azmi! to best of my knowledge!

2. Mera Kuch Samaan Tumhara Paas Pada Hai..Picturized on Anuradha? some thing, Gal, In UTSAV with REKHA(Bela Mehka)

3. Katra Katra Milti Hai, Katra Katra Jeene Do( Title song, goes with Credits)

4. Khali Haath Sham Aayi Hai..Rekha indeed!

You certainly qualify for a copy. :)

Famous GULZAR song filmed on SHABANA AZMI in MASOOM is Tujhse Naraaz Nahin Zindagi Hairaan Hoon.

Chhoti Si Kahani Se is definitely from IJAAZAT, although it may not be in the film, as 'art' films tend to omit songs whenever possible....

By the way, Rekha/Gulzar's GHAR have nice songs too:

Aaj Kal Paon Zameen Par Nahin Parte Mere
Bolo Dekha Hai Kabhi Tumne Mujhe Udte Huye

Aap Ki Ankhon Mein Kuch Mehke Huye Se Raaz Hain
Aap Se Bhi Khoobsurat Aap Ke Andaz Hain

R D Burman and Gulzar at their Best!

Its often been said that no one has ever depicted lost love better than Gulzar in this song. Certainly no one has rendered it better than Asha Bhosle in this song....

The song is more prose than poetry, and the language appears rather simple, but seems to convey so much depth!

Mera kuch saamaan tumhare paas paDa hai
Saawan ke kuch bheege bheege din rakheN hain
Aur mere ek khat mein lipti raat paDi hai
Woh raat bhuja dho
Mera woh saamaan lauTaa do...

PathjhaD hai kuch...hai na?
PathjhaD mein kuch pathon ki ghirne ki aahaT
Khanon mein ek baar pehne ke lout aayi thi
PathjhaD ki woh shaaq abhi tak kaamp rahi hai
Woh shaaq ghira do
Mera woh saamaan lauTaa do

Ek akeli chatri mein jab aadhe aadhe bheeg rahe the
Adhe sookhe aadhe geele
Sookha to main le aayi thi
Geela man shaayad bistar ke paas paDa ho
Woh bhijwa do
Mera woh saamaan lauTaa do

Ek sau solaah chaand ki raatein
Ek tumhare kaandhe ka til
Gheeli mehendi ki khushboo
Jhoot moot ke shiqwe kuch
Jhoot moot ke waade bhi sab yaad kara doon
Sab bhijwa do
Mera woh samaan lauTaa do..

Ek ijaazat de do bas.
Jab isko dafnaooNgi
Main bhi wahin so jayoongi..
Main bhi wahin so jayoongi..

Anyone up for translation into English?

Why do I think it was picturized on Shabana!! Ghar is EXCELLENT!!
