Some people suggested me to watch Taal. So I looked for it in DVD, but there's two versions : the one from Eros and another from Shemaroo; and I don't know which one to take. Is there a better version or they have both the same quality ?

I rented Taal from Netflix, loved it, and bought myself a copy. However, on the rental, I remember watching a special feature - something like "the making of Taal". They interviewed the director, aishwarya, and akshaye. But, on my DVD, that footage is missing. ??? My DVD is an Eros brand. Can anyone explain?

There were two versions of Taal released by EROS. The first version did not have the extras.

There also were many pirate versions of Taal with EROS markings.

Actually I and Arsh have been trying to find the first EROS version of Taal to see if the first version had a better PQ. dav1972, let's hope, you got the official version and not the pirate. You can help us in sorting out which EROS version is better provided you have the official EROS version.

Thanks.

The first version was also non-anamorphic ~1.85:1, while the second was anamorphic 2.35:1.

The dvd I have is 2.35:1 aspect ratio. There are no "extras" on the disc; however, the cover says the disc contains "Special Interviews Director & Actors & Promos".

If you want to know if your DVD of Taal is pirated just flip the dvd over and look at the inner ring. You should see Melody and cdguru written on inner ring along withe dvd-9 and the DVD disc number E-292. I'm talking about the widescreen version of Taal where the English subtitles work.

Mine says:

:nopity:

Inner Ring: DVD-E-292 Layer 0 || Eros International Ltd. ||*14328 || DVD9

Outter Ring: DVD-E-292 Layer 1 || Eros International Ltd. ||*14328 || DVD9

:nopity:

Anyone knows what this means?
Thanks!

I have the same version as dav 1972 except that the inner ring just says "title layer" and nothing else! However it does have eros hologram! :D

Forgot to say that my TAAL DVD also has the Eros Hologram on the back of the DVD cover.

Here are the screenshots for the Shemaroo version of Taal. I feel this is the most appropriate thread for it now:

P.S - Ali, can you inflict your zulm on the shots so I can take them down. Thanks.

The Shemaroo version I have has Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Stereo, hence the option in the menu. The DD is true 5.1 and is very good and dynamic. I haven't heard the Eros version so can't compare, but I've heard that the Eros sound is very good as well. So it really doesn't matter which version you chose (unless a pirate), you are bound to get an excellent 5.1 track.
