Finally had the chance to watch Bombay Boys DVD from Eros. Mostly a DVD that can be called OK – colours are pretty good (although slightly over saturated), detail and sharpness are decent.

The biggest flaw is that it’s dubbed in Hindi (original was mix of mostly English and Hindi) – losing much of it’s humour and appeal in the process.

Preview up soon..

I have seen this film on FilmFour (Original Hinglish version) and was impressed by it. Better then Spilt Wide Open in some instances. I hope Filmfour does the DVD as I think they did distributed the original version in cinemas UK.

hmmmm... not that you’ve reminded me – I’m sure I taped some of films from Channel Four season when Bombay Boys, Split Wide Open etc were shown – I’ll have to dig out my VHS collection to see if I’ve still got them or have they been taped over :cry:

Hold that sentence :happy:

I found both Bombay Boys and Split Wide Open recorded from Channel 4 :where:

Interesting; Bombay Boys feels and looks different - dubbing is really bad on the Eros DVD when you compare it with proper version. The Channel Four version is 1.85:1 widescreen all the way through as I suspect it should be. The 4:3 video on the Eros DVD is the open matt version of the film - which does show more of the picture on top and bottom but it never was intended to shown like this - as certain scenes you can actually see the microphone in the air!

Here are some screen comparison from the DVD and Channel Four version;

..left is the shot from Channel Four version, right is Eros DVD.
