I'd love to have an Excel release with DTS :) or is that asking too much?

the only way excel could release this is via the disney label that they have rights to in India... but then t-series would have to lose rights -- can't have two companies doing the same version of the same movie at the same time ;-)

I'd love an excel dts dvd too :-)

TZP dvd is released by t-series in india. excel home videos only offered expertise and supervision/oversight... excel have not released it ;-)

Although the (TZP) dvds are being brought out by t-series, Aamir has asked Excel to oversee the production process because (Excel) did a fantastic job of the DVDs of Lagaan.

You're absolutely right. I misread "oversee", I read something else.

They can start with releasing a top quality Blu Ray.

is "rapid eye" (REM) a genuine legal brand/label? i ask because they seem to have a taare zameen par dvd already or "coming soon" -- also wanted to know if moti-mahal is "above board" (meaning, don't sell pirated stuff)...
http://www.moti-mahal.de/onlineshop/det ... _auf_Erden

also see this -- what's "indien"?

REM is legitimate, not pirate.

Indien is the German word for India.

REM is a genuine company; very closely knit with YRF films...they have a pretty much exclusive contract to get their films "europeanised"; well at least for the German market. I quite regularly find myself ordering some of their stuff. Hoping to see Jodhaa Akbar from them, as well as Taare Zameen Par...both Anamorphic as well. From what I hear, JA will be on 2 DVD9s in Anamorphic presentation.

Also Taare Zameen Par is being released or has been on the UTV label...

To answer FB's question/comment, TZP was released on DVD by T-series and UTV simultaneously.

Strange, no matter how hard I've searched from all online sites that are selling the movie; I've only found the T-Series discs, which are playable only on my computer and our Int'l DVD player...I'd love to even see a COVER of the uTv version much less the disc or any site that is selling it. As it stands, I'll wait for the REM version...

3 Disc DVD?
My guess is, 1 Movie Disc (DVD), 1 Special Features Disc (DVD) & 1 Music Disc (Audio CD).

I am dissapointed that there is no Blu-Ray. Also, the specs listed on Amazon indicate an English Dubbed version. I sure hope they have the original 5.1 Hindi audio also.

There is no UTV version. And the Disney version is a different transfer altogether

there is a utv version buddy :-) Released in the Middle East! Exact same transfer as T-series. But it's R0 while T is R5. BTW, UTV replication is MCH better than T-series -- quite a few of the recent T-series discs are known to freeze and skip and sometimes not load!

the cover, packaging, goodies inside, etc. are all same on the UTV and T-series dvds -- the only difference being UTV and T-series logos / addresses on the covers. Here's a review of the UTV version --
The cover is designed as if a thick school book containing Ishaan's flip book, exclusive prints of Ishaan's final painting, Nikumbh sir's final painting, and a pencil with octopus dancing merrily, besides the DVDs of the film and its special features. Released by UTV Home Entertainment, Taare Zameen Par DVD is a connoisseur's delight.
The UTV version came a day before the T-series version hit the market -- the latter is what was released in India.

Now UTV are also releasing TZP in Taiwan --
UTV Motion Pictures has signed a distribution deal for release of ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ in Taiwan across platforms. The films will be seen on Taiwan Terrestrial Television and Home Video including DVD and VCD with Mandarin sub-titles. The threatrical release will be in original language with standard Mandarin sub-titles.
