Hey zulmis, sup!

A movie loosely based on the Malayalam movie Kireedam, DHILL lives up to it's hype, atleast I think.

The DVD is Anamorphic, Region free, and has a fake 5.1 DD track. The sound is disappointing because this is the department that Ayngaran excels in, as far as Indian DVDs are concerned. The picture is of good quality.

Read Sunny's comments in the following thread:

Maybe you could do a review Sunny :DD:. You're probably better at it then I am. I'll attempt it one day!

Until then kiddies, here's some screenshots of the flick:

Cover looks better than I thought!

Menu is dynamic!

Same ol same ol

All songs option included, although the disc space coulda been used for proper sound!

The DHILL(courage) he needs!

Subtitles are getting better but more work is needed for comedy dialogue!

Watch out Spider-man!

Have spoken to Aynagran about the fucked up 5.1 sound and it seems they will not release a 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack for this film in the future as they only have access to the mono 35mm print.

The same problem occured with some other DVD titles like Nandhaa, and Thavasi.

I used to buy Ayngaran releases blindly, certain that the video would be above average and the audio would be awesome. There goes that luxury out of the window...

Ayngaran really wastes space by putting 5.1 sound on films that should be in mono. And they're not remixes, they're just mono panned to 5.1. So if there is a title from the mid 90s I want, I don't know if it is true 5.1 or whether it is fake.

The picture quality is top for Nandhaa, sadly the sound is in Mono, and I have been told that there will be no further issues of this film for DVD in terms of a special edition, as part of their collectors catelogue next year.

I will be campaining for a special edition of this film and of Kasi, as these films MUST be seen be all who apperciate a good movie. According to the rumours on redriff (or wot ever that site is called) Aamir Khan might be in the Hindi remake version of Kasi. Now that would be fuckin' phat for his career as its a role/story of a lifetime.
