yeah, to make things worse, the jerks are very hostile to customers. None of the associates, including the owner & poore khandaan "mad dog" you. they don't even smile at the check out. Only reason I bought stuff there was cause I couldn't resist some cd's that they had never going back there, maybe to mock/tease them can't believe they are still in business. we don't have a Mings here. we have an Annapoorna though. most of their dishes are fantastic, except for some americanized dish.

Somehow, Xvid DVDrip shots have always looked better. Don't know why but can speculate:

YRF DVDs these days all are NTSC (60 fps) where as telecine is PAL 25 or 50 fps, 25 converted to 60 using field averaging. Why XvidDVDrip shots look better may be because rips are from original telecine somehow made avail for rips, in 50 frames per sec mode and hence Progressive by default??

nope, the rippers use the original dvd that everyone else gets. the secret is to take selective screenshots which make the video appear better than it is (close up shots look decent on almost any dvd).

I'm going to check the DVD out soon. Hopefully, the quality of the DVD will emulate the wonderful screenshots that are shown here.

More money YRF suckers make out of film, less effort they have to put to suck blood out of you guys!

my speculation:
since they are usually deinterlaced during the encoding process (DVD -> XviD) and at the same time lower in resolution, we do not see the artifacts due to lack of resolution. try encoding these crappy dvds at 720x480 and play it back on a good HDTV/Projector. hell, play back the lower res xvids. they will probably result is a very soft/blury picture.

izzy, you watched this film at the theaters. do you recollect visible blue tones throughout the film?

Theatrical print did not have this blue tint.
PQ in theatre was excellent.

just messing with you. I'm just going to wait till the next generation of media. hopefully there will be safegaurds preventing Indians from screwing them up. I don't think some of these places are properly equipped, both in terms of humans & equipment.
