Film-maker Subodh Mukherjee passes away

Mumbai: Veteran film personality Subodh Mukherjee, who had made several Hindi hit films like Paying Guest, Muneemji and Junglee, died of prolonged illness at a city hospital early today, family sources said. He was 84.

The senior director-producer was suffering from blood cancer for the past few months and the end came early Saturday, his nephew Rono Mukherjee said.

Mukherjee has to his credit several box office hits like Love Marriage, April Fool, Shagird, Romeo and Sharmilee.

He is survived by wife Kamala, sons Subhash and Sanjay and a daughter, who is in the US. The funeral will be held later in the day, Rono added.
