All in all, Paheli is an attempt to create a classic Rajasthani album.
Lot of people are quoting this as Rajasthani album. Not sure if Rajasthani sound lot like telugu/tamil folk albums, but the entire album is a repetition of MD's own work and heavy influence from IR tamil & telugu albums.
As far as the sales goes, this CD is flat to dead now. Hopefully ad and how well the song goes with the movie will decide the commercial success of this album.
Well DU, now I have familiarized my self !!
Tunes might be from Telugu numbers? Cant say? But his arrangements/instrumentation is very authentic, Indian, Rajhastani, one other thing, if you listen to music pieces, all instruments are so discrete individually without any hu humm of underlying orchestration. I thing thats what he meant that this soundtrack, is ALL ANALOGUE, non COMPUTERIZED DIGITAL!
Laga Re Jal, has same Raga based tune like Ghanan Ghanan from Lagan, but then it becomes, much different tune and arrangements.
I always liked Saathiya, Nayak, Hindi versions, and thought it was redone, very nicely.
Re Nayak, of course song pasteurization went SOUTH again!
One thing that really bothers me while listening to Paheli, is Vocals and Hindi of this Darn Ga, Bela Shinde?
Her Nasal voice along with awful Hindi pronunciation..sucks! it irks me!
Sand...is pronounced as REET, and SAYINGS as BULIYAN! She really spoils that beautiful Hari's number!
I don't blame, Kr em for that but Gulzar should have supervised his authentic Urdu/Hindi better!
Re SK-NATH, I can not buy him unfortunately a new set of HIGH DEFINITION/HIGH RESOLUTION EARS! but may be he needs a HOME THEATER system and Original Audio CD to become THE BELIEVER!
