I've been anxious to see this Pakistani film since it's been deliciously recieved in the critical cercit. Just a few days ago, I came to know that it's(supposidly)pirated DVD is available in the local Indian DVD stores. It's hard to believe that a Pakistani film that hardly anyone has ever heard of makes it's way onto DVD and gets released into the market of over absorbed Bollywood fumes, there must be something special or even important about this film, that one must have went through all sorts of struggle to get it publicily released.

A film that almost parallel's with the subject of Chandra Prakash Dwivedi's Pinjar, Khamosh Pani however(and evidently) is more Pakistani focused. The film is a brave attempt at a very preclude subject and is deeply felt. Director Sabiha Sumar is of Pakistani decent, and has dedicated this film to her parents, whom by name seemed to have come from different origin, that being said, I assume this particular film is a very personal subject for the director. Seemingly so, it doesn't seem she shied away from exposing the utter truth about the film's conflicting issues. Sumar's direction perfectly captures an even line of subtlety between vulgar and over-melodramatic emotions. The film has a few jaw-dropping moments, and it's narrative journeys over three different periods of time between the partition era to present day. Which incredibly makes one think about the progress(or regression) of cultural practice, politics, and humanization.

I finally watched this film couple days ago. It's a great film indeed. One of the most realistic, and probably the best, film about the partition. Is it available on dvd?

yaar, I don't know if its available on dvd. I searched everywhere, no one has it. I watched a tv-ripped divx file, which was actually good quality. Maybe it was the one faddy ripped.
