I'd show a  face for Indian as well. I dunno why few ppl see it but that film is every bit as ridiculous as Jeans.

I would put 2   next to 'indian'
though 'jeans' was an absolutely horrible film (definitely worthy of a ) at least it didn’t pretend to be something it wasn’t. ‘Indian’, on the other hand, actually took itself serious.. which is pretty funny considering it had an absolutely ridiculous plot

anyways other movies on the list I think deserve a  - ‘Devdas’ (I think we can all agree abt this pile of crap), ‘Kurudhi Punal’(why the hell was this sent and ‘droh kaal’ was not!?), ‘Parinda’ (I actually really like this film, but oscar worthy!? - what the hell were they thinking!?), ‘Nayagan’(another ridiculous and overrated film), ‘Ankur’(an interesting film, but definitely not oscar worthy), ‘hey ram’ (good in certain parts, though bad in many others - again, definitely not oscar worthy)

aryan- what films would you put in a ‘should have been India’s entries for the Oscars’ list

Concerning INDIAN, I think it's ridiculous too, but then I don't like a film with Kamal Hassan in it. (with the exception of SADMA maybe, which I haven't yet seen)

anwar, I am not sure how the whole oscar process works, but would it make sense that since both ‘2 ankhen 12 haath’ (1957) and ‘monsoon wedding’ (2002) were recognized at the golden globes, that they would also be india’s entry to the oscars??

also, how about the apu trilogy - you would think at least one of them made it to become india’s official oscar entry - does anyone know?

I know that for the Oscar the countries need to submit one particular film to the categories. I don't know how it goes at the Golden Globes. Maybe they jist pick the films themselves, view them and just choose the 5 best films? I don't think India needs to submit films for the Golden Globes. Why then would they send LAGAAN for the Oscar and MONSOON WEDDING for the Golden Globe?

I actually don't know about the Satyajit Ray-films. Yes I would also think that at least some of them would made is as official entries. That's why I started this thread.
