Was just looking at the release dates and it's not even opened in USA yet, so depending on results at the box office maybe they might push the release of the DVD back or maybe not. But Pathe at least will do a proper DVD giving people the option to watch it on DVD if your DVD players can handle PAL. Rest of the cinema release schedule from imdb.com;

France 22 December 2004
Switzerland 22 December 2004 (French speaking region)
Belgium 9 February 2005
USA 11 February 2005 (Los Angeles, California)
USA 11 February 2005 (New York City, New York)
Australia 17 February 2005
Netherlands 17 February 2005
Argentina 21 April 2005

err...i went to the LA premiere of this movie. Aishwarya Rai nor Chadha were there at the premiere!! :x but the white guy was there for a Q &A.

it's a terrible movie! it's like a bollywood movie in hollywood. BAD mix!

Terrible ending! I don't know about you guys, but if there was any girl that I was considering to marry, and I had doubts about trust and what not, I wouldn't consider marrying her. the second that I have ANY doubts, the second she would be out of consideration. HER LOSS :P

sanjay, it's probably a craptacular dvd :P

Just saw this at a free screening a few weeks ago in the states. I actually enjoyed the movie like I enjoy all "campy" Jane Austin remakes (like Cluless) and don't quite get the harsh criticism that seems so rampant.

My biggest problem was that the "English" songs were pretty weak...just plain bad musically like someone who didn't know western music was trying to make something sound "Western". The more traditional song/dance numbers were great (as was one English song).

Oh...here's my point. The film seems to be released through Miramax in the cinema here in the states. I'd imagine this will also be the case for the US-marked R1 NTSC DVD. Those of you hoping to get this on DVD may want to hold off as it looks likely that this title will get released on R1 DVD by a major studio (Miramax) if this all plays out as I'm anticipating.

I review Disney/Miramax DVDs for HTF and I can tell you a few consistencies with Miramax titles in comparison to *other major* studio DVD work:

Miramax DVDs tend to be slightly over-filtered and lacking in fine detail
Miramax DVDs tend to have a bit more ringing from EE than I would like
Digital noise reduction and MPEG artifacting tends to be minimal
They are almost always OAR 16x9.
DTS is common on Miramax releases in the U.S.

When I talk about image filtering and EE keep in mind that I'm comparing against R1 Warner Brothers and Fox DVD releases...not the usual Bollywood fare. So chances are that if Miramax does actually release this DVD in the states, that the results will look pretty darn good in comparison to what you might be expecting from traditionaly Bollywood DVD routes.

Also, the image looked pretty soft-focus in the 35 mm print that I screened, so I'll be keeping that in mind when I go to judge the DVD if it gets released through Disney/Miramax like I'm hoping (in which case I would review it).

Is a DVD with DTS track made from DD film source any better than DVD DD audio??

As far as I can remember, B&P theatrical credits did not show DTS. Only DD. Even then, in a DD theatre, there was very little surround speaker activity.
