screenshots please, faddy, UL, arsh could u compare this BEI/DEI to the tip top even if there is minimal difference. I'd really like to know if its worth buying or not
Haroon.

Sorry Haroon ... I bought the Tip Top and since there is no difference I wont be buying the new one, my retailer also wont rent out the BEI since the Tip Top is already on rental. Faddy I shipped the Tip Top version as well. Leaving Arsh bhai I cant say if he is willing to rent it or buy it. Arsh bhai ??

so arsh bhai, the consensus is that the DEI/BEI version is an exact replica of the TTV version, with no difference whatsoever.

I just talked to BEI and they said that they are releasing professor (shammi kapoor) this week. She also said that the BEI release of Shahenshah is better than the Tip Top version due to DVNR applied.

Does anyone have the BEI version???

Also, she mentioned that if they can get hold of a good print for Jo jeeta wohi sikandar they can consider doing the DVD.(don't know if it's possible, as they have been saying that for a while now).

I just got the DVD, and it does seem like a better picture than the TTV version even though the transfer seems to be the same. Also the audio is mono as opposed to the pseudo 5.1 given in the Tip Top version .

I have taken some screen shots, but do not know how to upload them, I can send them to someone to upload them up here. Anyone interested, UL, arsh bhai, faddy, anyone.....

Haroon

I got my dvd of shahenshah today and the PQ & AQ is the same :D .

Even if there is no apparant difference in video quality, there may difference in type of encoding, i.e. whether Progressive (24 steps per sec) or Pseudo-Prog (30 steps per sec, every 5th step is repeated step) that Tip Top DVD was.
If Progressive, it should give improved PQ on Progressive player-monitor set ups.

So, any confirmation whether it's 24 steps per sec (BEI standard) or 30 steps per sec (Indian Video DVD standard)??

Similarly, any confirmation whether it's 2 Ch Mono or Stereo?? Was the film audio in stereo at all?? Was the LP record in simulated stereo or real stereo??

I got my copy today (already had the TTE version). Sure, there is a difference. BEI Shahenshah is Progressive, Anamorphic with a bit rate of over 6 mbps and audio @ 2 Ch 224 kbps. TTE version is Pseudo-Propgressive, anamorphic with a bit rate of under 4.5 mbps, audio at fake 5.1 448 mbps. Whether you notice any difference between the two versions or not, I sure can see the difference and am happy with BEI DVD.

Rana bhai .. Is it on cheap media? How fast do you think it will rot? I wanted to get the BEI version as well but am afraid of this issue.

Comparing, side by side, on a scale of 100% Gold for old time YRF, IndiaPlaza-DEI DVDs, 0% Gold of Media Dimension and some of DEI DVDs sold during DEI bankruptcy rotting discs and 20 to 40% Gold tint DVDs releasing these days, Hollywood included, BEI Shahenshah DVD looks somewhere 50% to 90 % Gold depending on what angle you look from. There also is a very slight blue tint that I never saw before.

BTW, another BEI DVD that I got in this shipment was "Samraat BEI Evergreen Romantic Duets Vol-1" that's about 5% Gold, is not recognized by one of my DVD players but reads OK on the other.

Professor and Shahenshah is OK.
April Fool is unacceptable of what's expected from BEI. It's PAL to NTSC converted Field Averaged.

Strange. As far as I remember, TTV version is Pseudo-Progressive. Every 5th frame/ field is an exact repeat of 4th frame/ field (2-3 pull down avail, but no progressive flags). I'll check again.
