Deewar - Let's Bring Our Heroes Home

It's not a remake of old 'Deewaar'. Gaurang Doshi's 'Deewaar' is based on sensitive border issue between India and Pakistan. Except title, people will find no similarity between this and that 'Deewaar' made earlier. Of course, Amitabh Bachchan played in both. 'Deewaar' means any wall emerged as the partition in between two brothers or two countries. Old day's 'Deewar' was the devider between two brothers. But this 'Deewaar' is the border, which devides two countries geographically.

The movie is based on the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. Akshaye Khanna plays Amitabh Bachchan's son who goes to rescue him when Bachchan is taken as a prisoner in Pakistan. Sanjay Dutt helps Akshaye Khanna in the rescue.

According to the producer Gaurang Doshi "'Deewaar' is a very rugged macho men's film. "But it isn't devoid of emotions,". "It doesn't have the standard emotions like a mother making gajar ka halwa and a sister sobbing over a rakhi. The very idea of families waiting for years, sometimes 33 years to see the return of a loved one is so heartbreaking." Doshi has left no stone unturned to ensure a topnotch product. "Deewaar cost Rs 30 crores. It's been insured at the highest amount ever. That should say it all. Just one set representing a Karachi jail cost us nearly 1.5 crore rupees. I don't think we've ever got a ruggedness and colours that we've got in 'Deewaar'."

I guess IW.com is trying to compete with $14.99 at nf.com :o Lowered Prices to $15.99! where b4umovie.com has it $17.99.

Only thing I been noticing these years, is indiaplaza.com has highest prices on DVDs!! Almost 10 bucks more. Never tried to compete.

Another great dvd transfer by Eros Multimedia. This DVD looks like a pirated DVD. Can't we bring a class action lawsuit against Eros Entertainment for making crap DVDs??
