Yet another remake

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Autograph", starring 'boneless wonder' Prabhu Deva, is the latest Kollywood film to inspire a Bollywood remake.

"Autograph" follows "Masti", a successful remake of Kamal Haasan's "Panchatantitam", and "Run" being remade with Abhishek and Bhumika.

Sources say Vivek Oberoi is likely to replace Prabhu Deva in the Hindi version, which is yet to be named.

IMO Vivek Oberoi is not mature enough to play Cheran's character in AUTOGRAPH. And Prabhu Deva? Why bother? :baaa:

Dude :D

Nothing like taking a man's personal heartfelt story and then remaking it! Just rent the original instead, it is awesome.

I didn't know Masti was a remake of Panchatantram/Very Bad Things. I'll have to avoid it now :)

Abhishek Bachchan in ‘Autograph’ remake!
By Moviebuzz
Wednesday, 07 July , 2004, 09:15
Last week Amitabh Bachchan was in Chennai dubbing for S.Ramanathan’s Zamanat. In spite of his busy schedule, Bachchan saw a special screening of Autograph with Cheran and later said that he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cheran was negotiating with Boney Kapoor, who wanted to remake the film with Shahid Kapoor along with Kareena Kappor (his real life lover). But after Amitabh saw the film, he spoke to his son and director Rajkumar Santhoshi. Santhoshi took the late night flight to Chennai in the wee hours of the morning and snapped the Hindi remake rights for a whopping Rs 1.50 Crore!

Now Santhoshi will start work with Abhishek in the lead role and the big news is that Aishwarya Rai will play the role made memorable by Sneha in the original. The other two heroines are likely to be Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra.

The charm of the first two heroines in Autograph was that they were fresh faces to Tamil cinema. Putting two stars in the role doesn't make any sense.

Raj Kumar Santoshi is one of the few directors that can make a decent original movie. Its sad to see him making remakes. Hope the news is incorrect

Is it confirmed that he is really remaking Okkadu?

This type of film works in the South, but not in the North. I think this will flop like the Hindi version of Run.

Remake to be remade
IndiaGlitz
Wednesday, May 04, 2005

Vijay starrer Ghilli, the remake of blockbuster Telugu movie Okkadu, which had a silver jubilee run in Kollywood last year, is now going to be remade in Hindi.

According to sources, director Rajkumar Santhoshi would be directing the movie and Abhishek Bachchan would be playing the lead role.

Efforts are on to romp in Amitabh Bachchan to play the hero's father donned by Ashish Vidyarthy in Tamil.

Remember director Rajeshwar? He was the one who directed movies like Seevalaperi Paandi and Amaran. He has been asked to handle the screenplay for the Hindi version.

Abhishek Bachchan had acted in the Hindi remake of blockbuster Tamil movie Run . Unfortunately the movie bombed at the box office. Let's hope he gets it right at least this time.

lets see how santoshi matches up with gunashekar! :)

when Run & Okkadu first came out, I pointed out how the two films resemble on many levels, it's funny because Abishek would have done both films in Hindi. Talk about redundant formula films & formula actors!! they are both pretty much the same story!!
