Good 5.1 sound, decent subs, and typical Bollywood-standard anamorphic video. No extras except a few trailers for old movies.

the movie runs 105 minutes long so thankfully there is no compression artifacts.

I have screen caps ready... who do i send them to get them posted here?

anywayz, just before I saw your post, I wanted to say that the actual transfer is not that bad as the pics indicate. Yes because the stupid Bollywood dvds are interlaced and are not encoded properly, we're never gonna get any picture perfect stills. However even on my 53" tv, with the 16:9 mode on, the film looked pretty watchable. Of course nothing as comparable to Hollywood standards, but trust me bhai, this dvd is MUCH MUCH better than those damn Bastards WEG. I just saw the movie ISHQ HAI TUMSE this weekend, and holy shit, that transfer looked worse than watching on tv with fuzzy reception, using an RF connection!!


Oh btw, I saw this movie in the theatre and I guess the print I saw at Albion was in good shape, because every single scene was picture-perfect, with a very good blend of dark, shadowy areas and bright vivid colours (esp. Kareena's sari). Too bad you can't see the details on this dvd.

Picture wise, screening is a lot better on "not so big" screens for 35 mm prints. The same film on a Big Screen, like Gigantic screens in Square One or I-Max, will not show as well. For Gigantic screens like I-max or Square One or "Big Screen Big Sound" theatres, they should use a 70mm print even if blown up from a 35mm film. Rarely do they use blown up to 70mm prints for Gigantic screens as clientale hasn't been complaining.

BTW!! did u check CHAMELI is a single layer disc?

i think i saw a dual layer switch around the 45-50 minute point or so.

Is there any real way of checking if its a dual layer, using power dvd perhaps??

On my Sony DVD player, when I display bit rate info, there is an option for Layer info. If it's a Single layer disc, the pointer shows where the disc is playing. No layer 0 or 1 is shown. For a Dual Layer Disc, Layer 0 or Layer 1 is indicated along with playing location.

Layer or bit rate info is just like you find Audio or any other playing info.

Also make sure that you have Hardware Acceleration disabled in PowerDVD when taking screenshots. That was the reason for the pixellated shots that I used to provide. Once I disabled hardware acceleration, the pixellation in the shots went away. That could be the cause of these shots as well, or the DVD is just crap.
