Amrapali - is a very good film. Vyjayanthimala performed some of her best classical dances in this movie. The story is about Amrapali who was a court dancer and she unknowingly enters in to a relationship with the arch enemy of the royal household that she dances for.

I found the movie to be very well made ... the dialogue was a bit difficult to understand as it is in pure Hindi - but I really liked the songs and sets.

I haven't seen it on DVD either - I'm desperate to get hold of it - where did you see it?

I saw Bluff Master and Dhund a long time ago. I don't remember a whole lot about them - sorry.

Dhund (1973)

Dhund, directed by B R Chopra, is a suspense film. The heroine, Zeenat Aman, is married to a vicious, crippled tyrant (Danny) who is murdered in the beginning of the film. The prime suspect is Zeenat Aman and her secret lover (Sanjay Khan). The story is shown in flashbacks, and there is an interesting twist to the plot, generated by Navin Nischol, the 'witness' to the murder scene.

Aavishkar (1973)

The chemistry of the Rajesh Khanna - Sharmila Tagore pair sparkles in this artistically acclaimed film, directed by Basu Bhattacharya. Aavishkar explores domestic diaspora with conviction, as Khanna and Tagore struggle to save their crumbling marriage. Rajesh Khanna won his last Best Actor Filmfare Award for Aavishkar.

Where is it easily available? Here "outside of india" or "in india"? None of the online stores that i checked have it.

or did you mean, you got it easily from someone who brought the dvd from india. ?

I've searched a bunch of sites for Amrapali by Shemaroo and I can't find it either :(

It's not even listed on the Shemaroo.com web-site :hmm:

I picked up Amrapali a couple of months back (was just released; Paanorama) from Toronto (was avail in many shops). At that time, it was also listed on Shemaroo site. I do have an EXCEL listing of all Shemaroo DVDs listing about 180 DVDs (Amrapali is in there) of which not all are listed all the time, depending on stock availability. May be it's out of stock at Shemaroo in India, but some retailers may have a few copies on the shelf. It also was avail at IW, I think.

Sure you will find Shemaroo Amrapali now or in near future.

Part EXCEL listing from Shemaroo:

LIST OF MOVIE DVDs MRP RS. 349/- TRUE DOLBY LIST OF MOVIE DVDs MRP RS. 349/- TRUE DOLBY
2 AA AB LAUT CHALEN NO 49 JUDAAI NO
3 AAG NO 50 KAAJAL NO

BTW, as with many Shemaroo DVDs, it's possible that Amrapali may be released by BEI, in North America. Actually, my friend told me to skip Shemaroo Sohni Mahiwaal as that banner movies are supposed to be future BEIs. We didn't notice that Amrapali too was from the same banner. So, a possible BEI. :D

OK. I change it to I KNOW.

I found a print out of IW listing. It's not listed now.

BTW, as per my friend, FC Mehra films will be on BEI, sooner or later. SOHNI MAHIWAAL and AMRAPALI, both are FC Mehra films.
