One other film worthy of mentioning is Sau Din Saas Ke (1980). This was another female-oriented role, where she stands up against her cruel saasand rescues badi bahu Asha Parekh from the oppression of Lalita Pawar.

Was "Saathi Mere Tum Jo Bane---" song from Sau Din Saas Ke or Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahoo Thi??

BTW, this song as I saw in the VHS was totally different from song on LP and Cassettes (same song same tune but differernt lyrics/ verses). Any info on this??

Ladies Tailor is unlikely to go on to dvd, unless I keep on harassing Apollo Video as I did to get Lakshmi released onto dvd! I didn't follow Reena Roy's remnant films after she quit in 1983, but its very unlikely she was in Batwara or another J P Dutta film.

One film that I highly recommend is currently available from IW for only $2.99: Jail Yatra (1981) with Vinod Khanna. Its a bit of a comedy, in which Reena Roy plays a psychiatrist trying to cure Vinod Khanna's forged fear of women. She looks beautiful wearing an orange saree, trying to seduce Vinod Khanna, in the song Nahin Lagta Hai Dil Tere Bina Nahin Lagta.

Saathi Mere Tum Jo Bane ...

There appears to be three verses:

(1) Pyari Pyari Tere Pyar Ki Khushboo, Mere Jeevan Ko Mehkana Lagi Hai ...
(2) Pyaase Pyaase Mere Armaan Phooche, Saath Nibhe Ga Kab Tak Apna ...
(3) Bolo Bolo Mere Pran Savariya, Rakho Ge Mujhko Bolo Tum Kaise ...

It appears verses 1 and 2 are in the audio/LP and verses 2 and 3 are in the visual/dvd.

Very observant Rana!

Udhar Ka Sindur (1976) is with Jeetendra, not Rajesh Khanna. But there is Yeh Gotey Dar Lahenga in Sultan Ahmed's dacoit film Dharam Kanta (1982) with Rajesh Khanna.

Pyaasa Sawan (1981), Prem Tapasya (1983) and Asha Jyoti (1984) are made by the same director. My favourite is the song Raqassa Raqs Kar as Jeetendra dances with Rekha to make Reena Roy jealous in Prem Tapasya.

Amongst Reena Roy's last films as a heroine, there is the disco-ish Karishmaa (1984) with Tina Munim and Kamal Hasan. And the tragical Inteha (1984) as Raj Babbar's rape victim crying out Lut Gayi Lut Gayi Main To Saiyan.

Asha Jyoti was a strange plot directed by Desari Narayana Rao. Rajesh Khanna somehow ends up with two wives: Rekha and Reena Roy. He makes them both do classical dances whilst he sings Neele Ambar Ke Do Naina by Kishore Kumar. In a misguided sacrificial attempt, both wives commit suicide, after each one gives birth to a child. And the last scene has Rajesh Khanna standing between two funerals and two babies in two 'palnes'!

Here is an early thread about Walyati Babu (1981) co-starring Amitabh Bachchan

[And the last scene has Rajesh Khanna standing between two funerals and two babies! ]

in 2 palnas lol..deja vu

***She was one of the BEST DANCER of her time, along with HEMA/REKHA, but more DISCO STYLE/CONTEMPORARY!!

Of course looking back, her Fast dances, seemed slow, in comparison to SRI DEVI, Followed by Madhuri Dixit, and now URMILA etc!! Life keeps on getting Fast dances too..

Subash ghaii, had an EYE always( hands too) for Heroines with OOMPH, and he did use REENA ROY for that!!

Ja Re Ja Ho Harjai, Dekhi Teri Dildari, dil Deke maen Kar Bethi, dil Ke Dushman Se yari!!

BTW!! It seems JAY VIJAY..is not included in her FILMOGRAPHY..famopus Song: Ek Munda Mere haan daa!!

God, Oh Lord..I MISS a LOT, ANAND BAKSHI SAHAB!! He was a PILLAR!!

You mean Sunwe Mundya Sun Banjaren Di Baani from Jay Vijay (1977)

Reena Roy was versatile enough to carry off both indian style dances (ie, Asha Jyoti) as well as cabaret numbers (ie, Andhaa Kanoon). There was a graceful qawali with Rishi Kapoor in Deedar-e-Yaar (1982): Eid Ka Din Hai, which she did to please Jeetendra for his home production.

It is unfortunate that there are practically no articles about this actress on the internet. Other actresses of her time with fewer classics like Neetu Singh and Parveen Babi get more of a mention. Perhaps, its Neetu Singh's connection with the Kapoor family, and Parveen Babi's multi-starrers with Amitabh Bachchan that gives them more respectability!
