These are only as acceptable if you use them on normal size TV screens. You scale this video to anything decent size and you notice massive pixilation & aliasing problems. Even on these screen shots you notice jaggy edges which often seems to problem with these Tamilini dual encoded DVDs (even some Ayngaran show these same problems) – [and no its not a screen shot problem – this the way they are encoded on DVD]. Result of possibly using cheapo mpeg2 encoders. Encoding is bad as Eros/VS/Spark etc DVDs – difference is source used for encodings, Tamil DVD usually are much better in this respect.

Now we r talking BUSISNESS!!

Ayangran is DEFEATING their ADVANTAGE..GOOD SOURCE as SUGGESTED by ALI, by using..BAD/ENCODING/AUTHORING..IMHO :nopity:

LOOK at the GRAIN EXCESSIVE on these PICS!!

With SQUASH Video, I prefer DEI, TNBPG over AYANGRAN transfer!

I think Rammana is one of the better Indian DVDs released this year when taking into account of its consideration. The film has a 180min running time, and with this is also a DTS and DD 5.1 option. Naturally the bit rate drops but still on my 50inch screen the picture has no major problems at all. There isn't even one moment of pixlation. Give me one Rammana DVD for any new EROS DVD (the actual film is also exceptionally better too).

The type of DVD encoding hardware/software Tamil companies use is Sonic, also used by the top DVD authoring companies in the USA. There are minor problems like aliasing and edge enhancment, but in general the DVDs are good quality, with phat sound and are presented in its OAR of 2.35:1 - 2.40:1.

I do prefer BEI work, but I also have no major complaints on the work by Tamilini or Ayngaran. These companies have some of the best Indian DVDs in the market. For example I believe Kanathil Muthamittal to have the ultimate reference for 5.1 sound which surpasses BEI's KNPH & Jung and even some major hollywood titles like Spiderman & MI2.

With Ayngaran still working on progressive and are toying with the idea of something big...(can't reveal at mo)...things can only get better with thier DVDs....the same can't be said for DVDs from EROS, Spark and counless other companies.

Ayngaran, Tamilni and BEI are the survivors and deserved to be apprciated for thier work in providing quality in a industry that only thinks of one thing....and I'm sure you guys can guess what that is...

Sunny, do you know why Ayngaran has been "working on" progressive transfers for a long time? I would assume it is a matter of just changing a setting on the equipment. Are there other problems that I don't know of? If Ayngaran started doing 24p transfers and reducing their other problems, they could be a top-class DVD company.

If they are using the same hardware/software as top US companies, why the huge difference in quality? Ayngaran DVDs are good - not excellent.
