I DON'T care a damn? maybe.

Given the quality of the orignals it does make sense to buy pirates, except of course BEI/DEI of which I buy only originals.
Copying is a waste of time, it's too time consuming and a lot more expensive when you can get originals as low as $1.99 from your favourite store IW. :D

Sknath makes good points, particularly about the gold media. I'm reluctant now to buy even older DEI authored discs like Rangeela and Mili because I've heard of freezing problems with them. I don't want to pay $10 for a coaster. Also, I was looking forward to Khatta Meetha, but that turned out to not be good quality so I didn't buy it. Then Disco Dancer came out and I was wondering what was going on.

You'll have me as another customer if I can be reasonably assured that the disc won't stop playing after a while, and if you keep the transfers clean.

Media = the material used in the DVD... It can be either
a.) "Silver" media
b.) "Gold" media

Hope you are familar with ur chemistry classes enjoy !..
Silver , in due course of time, oxidizes to Silver Oxide... and if the disc is dual layered, this can damage the bonding between the two layers... and that will render the discs useless... The most notable example being recent DEI encoded discs and
Dil Chahata Hai ( from the f****ed up company called SPARK)

Gold on the other hand is a noble metal... it order for it to oxidize, you need special environmental conditions, which is not possible with standard usage of DVDs... Hence these dvds last longer.....

As for screenshots... Wait for some Die Hard Fanatic to get the dvd :)

Just saw this and was not overly impressed. Sorry can't post shots since my computer is not equipped with a DVD player.
Mhafner might be on to something use of heavy DNR. Although the print is crisp and clear, colors are vibrant its hard to focus on moving scenes especially so when your eyes are bad like mine. The media is not gold, one of those hybrid shit. In my opinion we got screwed! Like to know whats the connection between Apollo and BEI :D

Sknath my question is how can you tell whether the disc is silver media or gold media by LOOKING at it....is there a way or do companies try to hide the fact whether they are gold or silver?

What I'm saying is that besides the color of the ACTUAL disc, is there another way, rim coding or something....for example all the hollywood DVD's are not necessarily "gold" in color (mostly silver in fact) but don't freeze and breakdown like the desi ones....is it just as simple as looking at the color of the DISC? It can't be that simple....

there is a kinda intermediate, gold/silver mixed media, that eros use, and also, dei/eros old replicates..mostly, and some of last DEI dvds, like YDA, TNBPG etc, were on that combi media, that is pretty durable, second best to Gold..

Shemaroo, uses the same..

Bei..on their came back..Fortunately started with Gold, Yateem, Swaymvar, then became, gold/silver, and finally degraded to its bottom line..penny saver situation..

Well, there must be scientific tests, to tell apart..but I am talking about my humble limited vision..based impressions..
