this cover definitely freezes..... i had 2 disks with the same problem.. now the 3rd one is the same cover too and so far it is still alive.........

i would pay no more than 3.99 for this......

So will making a copy of this DVD onto my hardrive work as a backup copy even if the disc freezes....all ya experts to respond please.....

Sure it works.
For exact code transfer, the cost of Hard Drive disk space alloted to this copy is more than the cost of the DVD . It takes about 10 GB for a normal DVD.

Copying on to a CD with further compression is another option. But you don't get the orig code.

So then how do I ensure an EXACT code copy...would a simply drag-drop copy into a folder be an exact copy (i am sure it would leave out hidden files). Would i need to use any specialised s/w to do this....any recommendations.....an alternative would be to look for copies on Kaza already out there...since i have already invested in this DVD once:angry:, i would feel no guilt at all in downloading it from an existing source....

Thanks in advance for any info....

I am sure Sknath or Faddy can answer the question better than me, but if the DVD is protected, then simply dragging it to your hard drive may not help you much as the software DVD player's can't play it as it is.

You can use some kind of ripping software like Smart Ripper to unlock the vob files and copy it to your hard drive, enable you to play them and get the same quality as the original.

I'm no expert in computers, but can give some pointers as someone told me.

half way down the page:
SmartRipper 2.41 - another DVD Ripper, offers many neat options that no other ripper has

use this software to transfer exact same VOB files.
But remember, DVD is cheaper than the cost of Hard Drive Disk Space.

(My friend installed this smart ripper software for me and I know a sequence of a few clicks, without understanding what I am doing.)

i was thinking along the lines of copying the disc onto ure hard drive using somet called DVD Decrypter.. just extract the move leave everything else out and then re-encode it using something called DVD2ONE.. its about 45 minute process... basically the movie is around 6.5 gigs big and u can recompress it into a 4.3 gig file using DVD2ONE and then copy it onto DVD like ive done and u can hardly tell the difference................
