Hi,

I'm new to this forum and would like to say a quick hello to everyone! I live in London and would like to know about a good online dvd store based in the UK. I have tried cdguru and wasnt impressed with the service at all. There seems to be this new one http://www.bollywooddvd.co.uk which has price promise and everything like that - but would like to hear from anyone who has used them before I order, just in case they are a little dodge! Anyone know or heard of them? Is it worth me trying them out?

Nabeel.

By the way, I only came across this http://www.bollywooddvd.co.uk site from an article on Radio Sargam, which is why I dont have any experience in dealing with them myself....the article mentions ddlj and lagaan dvds, which are the ones I wanna order anyway!

heres the article:

DDLJ AND LAGAAN DVD SALES SOARING!
The two titles have become best sellers in DVD market!

The popularity of Bollywood DVDs has soared in recent times and fans of Indian cinema seem to be lapping them up at the moment.

Two much awaited Bollywood blockbusters have finally hit the shops in DVD format and the initial sales for both titles are exceptional.

We are talking about Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga and Lagaan - both of which have been released with much fanfare and offer customers a whole heap of exciting extra features.

Since Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga is aimed at an international market, it has subtitles in a whopping seven languages (English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Hebrew, Malay and Japanese). It also has a special second DVD which features cast and director interviews, theatrical trailers, the making of DDLJ, deleted scenes and much more!

Lagaan has its own fair share of goodies too! This DVD also comes with subtitles in seven languages (English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Thai). Its bonus features include one deleted scene, filmographies, production notes and web links!

These two titles have become essentials for a good DVD collection, which is obviously why they are selling so well. If you would like to order them over the Internet, Radio Sargam recommends http://www.bollywooddvd.co.uk - who deliver throughout the world!

Look out for DVD reviews of both Lagaan and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga on Radio Sargam soon!

I haven't had any buying experience with them . They do offer free P&P but overall their prices are more expensive than other retailers. Usuall prices are 18.99 - 19.99 occasionally £16.99 ish.

ive not used bollywooddvd but they used to have cheap prices on time but looks like they’ve gone down http://www.indiandvdfilms.com/ route which have better overall price now. http://www.indiandvdfilms.com/ is uk based too but there prices are not that different from bollydvd. i would recommend using indiaweekly.com there USA based but can deliver faster than most UK based stores and a whole lot cheaper! it wound surprise me it these so called uk stores are getting dvd really cheap from indiaweekly and selling them on a price hike in the uk! (not a bad idea me thinks for someone todo :) )

Hi Nads,

I visited your site and its really good - very useful! One thing though, the top rated Bollywood DVD site for you was Under 18s, but I looked at the site and it seemed the be Hollywood stuff. Do they have a Bollywood section, coz if you are rating them then maybe I should try them...

Nabeel.

Have a look at cdguru.com. They are UK based ( I think Tooting) and the prices are OK. I have ordered before and have had no problems. I have just ordered some CD's as they are clearing out there stock hopfully I will get them in a weeks time.

Thanks Naheel,
Under 18 and CDGuru are both top rates.
If in the search form category box at Under18, you click on I think "indian" and just press search you'll get a big list of indian DVDs - should make it easier. They don't have the selection as others do (especially new titles) but classics and films slightly old (if you see what I mean) are listed.
I've bought a fair bit from cdguru.com and they are good, delivery is very quick.
I obviously don't know how old you are but if you don't have a credit card but do have a visa electron card, I suggest you checkout Indiaweekly as they are cheap and reliable.
