Screen shots from the first disc - thanks to Bhaskar for getting these - the £17.99 deal came through from mobileshop.com

Details: progressive, PAL, R2 – these are probably as good these films are going to get.

My copy came through today also from Mobileshop.com

Having seen the first and second films I canconfirm I am well please with the quality of these discs, considering the age of the films.

The dialogue on the first disc was clear although I did notice some background 'hissing' (although this could be my setup). The second disc had clear distortion free picture and claer sound. Can't wait to see the last episode.

Thanks for the bargain... now shall I try to sell at a hefty profit?

Getting that region-free player is looking more attractive each day...

Still looking for a reliable online retailer who will deliver this to the US. Is there a good deal at all for this set? It has been a dream of mine to own this for a looooong time and I dont want to feel ripped off. Alongwith Jean Vigos' 'L'Atalante' releasing next month on DVD, this is THE Dvd set to get.

Suggestions please?

I don't know about R2 sites that will ship to the US, but I'm going to wait a while to see if there is an R1 release this year, though the R2 extras are tempting. If not, I can buy one of those cheapo players where you can play any region DVD and convert from PAL to NTSC.

I thought Criterion already released "L'Atalante"?

[Oops, I was thinking of "L'Avventura"!]

Bensonsworld seems the cheapest deal at the moment at around 45 pounds.

Movie Mail is around 50 pounds. So is amazon.co.uk - their used copies are over 50 pounds!!! Very hard to make a decision considering the prices aren't remotely decent.
