Somehow the pics remind me of Prithvi *ing Sunil Shetty which was filmed in Houston, Texas. Maybe Kaante will have a similar look. Even though Prithivi was filmed in uS, it still looked somehow indian, it was rather unusual I remember.

Releasing Kaante Is a ‘Dangerous Game’ Still In Question
It is wrong to place gargantuan expectations on films, even if the film has all the characteristics for what should be a grand box office success. For whatever reasons the biggest release in recent times Kaante has been labeled the savior for a sad industry which is suffering mainly on one account- bad films.

Indeed a bad film may squeeze its way through and become a success here and there, but Bollywood should clearly take a reflection on its output this year and not wonder why the business has been poor. On the same ideal, a decently put together film like Aneez Bazmee’s Deewangee, despite its blatant Hollywood inspiration, can manage to survive flopping at the box office.

At last, with a mere month left of the year, the picture painted is quite clear. Four films, Kaante, Chalo Ishq Ladaaye, Karz- the Burden of Truth and Rishtey respectably are expected to surmount each other for three weeks repeatedly until the year ends and pull the industry out of the pits both in a monetary term and in terms of quality. Aside from the fact that originally it was Suneel Darshan’s Talaash and Parto Gosh’s Maseeha rather than Chalo Ishq Ladaaye; the simple thought is purely idiotic. This is quite blatant since, as of now, a week before the big weekend; it is still quite unclear whether some of the films will actually face off. The will it will it not continues and the unfortunate factor is that it continues for the biggest release of them all, the constantly delayed and somewhat anticipated Kaante.

The fact that a consensus has still not been received (despite an interview by Pritish Nandy stating that the film is certainly releasing on the 6th, with prints in and the sole exception being the censor certificate) is indicative of what is wrong with the industry. Lack of organization is seen outside of theatres as well as in the films themselves.

That aside, one must truly consider the possibilities of releasing not one, not two, but four films on the same day. Are each of these film makers actually expecting their films to become a grand success? Frankly, even the one with the upper hand, in this case, Kaante, should worry!

For Kaante, the "will it won’t it" game continues as the date of arrival of its prints keeps on moving ahead. We had first reported that the negatives will arrive in India on 22nd from LA, the date then became 26th and then 27th .The movie is yet to obtain its censor certificate as well. And, at that, Mr. Nandy has assured that this is his biggest fear as the film is not of a nature in which it will be guaranteed a censor pass without cuts.

Each person connected with the movie is giving his own bit of news about the it, the most absurd of this was when Mr. Pritish Nandy claimed that 15,000 prints of Kaante were to be released worldwide, a news which raised quite a few laughs.

Now the news comes (courtesy Mr. Komal Nahta Film Information) that only about 400 prints are to be released in India and according to our sources, only 600+ prints are to be released worldwide. As of now the only confirmed news about the 6th December releases is from the makers of Karz their movie is definitely releasing on 6th and they have gone ahead and announced it through the print media. In fact, the negative cutting of Karz-The burden of truth recently concluded, and with this the preparation for the first copy of the movie are in full swing. Obviously, producer Kaushal Godha has some sense of assurance and knows not to play stop and go with his release dates (Karz has always been scheduled for the 6th).

Otherwise, the release of Rishtey is also quite possible on the 6th and Anil Kapoor has confirmed this in his press conferences in Delhi and Lucknow. This itself is also a doorway to several other undesirable paths! What a detriment it will be to actress Shilpa Shetty if both films sink. Appreciated performance or not to have two big prospects simply clash in an unfavorable manner is certainly not a growing actress’ dream.

And if the question marks weren’t floating around a plenty, the producer of Talaash, Pahlaj Nihlani has another interesting bit to add, and it goes something like this, "If Kaante does not release on 6th then Talaash will release." This he has said "off the records", however the website of Talaash has a release date of 27th December.

What is right and what is wrong is clearly a big question, if not for anything, but for the strategizing of releasing films at least. One hopes that these adamant uncertainties are all a myth or at the very least that some concrete news emanate, especially from the makers of Kaante!

anyways, here's a new article from b4u..

Despite claims from presenters PNC that the film will play at theatres on 6th December, Kaante still seems to be in deep trouble. Insiders insist that Sanjay Gupta and Raju Patel still have issues to settle and there is no way the film will hit the market on 6th December. If reports are to be believed, the film will release only sometime in January. That just means we are in for another round of promos continuing the 10 month old trend of the most awaited film of the past couple of years. At the speed the makers have cut promos, wonder if they will have anything to show in the theatres when the film releases finally!.

F#CK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hate to be the bearer of bad news guys, but here's the word from India FM:

The suspense is finally over! The most-awaited film KAANTE will hit the theatres on December 13, not on December 6.

Of late, there had been tremendous speculation about the release date of the film. Although the producers and distributors of the film were more than confident of making it on December 6, the negative of the film had not reached Mumbai, so as to have it censored on time.

The negative has now reached Mumbai, but the censors will watch the film on December 2 (Monday). Raju Patel, the U.S.-based producer of this extravaganza, confirmed this development with this writer. “There's no other reason for the delay,” Patel revealed.

The film will be released with approx. 800 prints worldwide. “The numbers can increase to 900,” he adds. The breakdown being, approx. 600 prints in the domestic market and 200-250 prints in Overseas.

Also, there's a strong possibility that the dubbed Japanese version of KAANTE might be released simultaneously, says Patel.

whys every1 sooo excited bout kaante. yeah, the songs r great, cast is DYNAMITE (actually just AB is dynamite, others r soso, and sunil shetty is shit) and i def wanna c reservoir dogs redone in hindi..... BUT AND IT IS A BIG BUT... Sanjay Gupta, i can't make a decent movie even if my life depended on it, is the director.... gimme the name of 1 good movie the man has made since his career started.

hameshaa was the only 1 bearly tolerable but others stank... dunno why pritish nandy would let this guy squander his money on a movie that is unlikely to live up to even mediocre expectations....

worse still, i recently heard that ab has dropped madhur bandarkar's police force... so he's got time to do a jackass gupta flick, but no time for bhandarkar? where's the justice in this world???? :ffs: :ffs:
