Well, VS's Bichhoo is listed at $ 6.99 at IW. Afzal has been unable to confirm in the past if its Super Digital version if it is not printed on the cover. So I am skeptical if this and many other VS titles (are relatively cheap), that I want to buy (e.g. Koyla, Ishq, PKTDK PTHHT etc), are really the SD versions. For some that I know has Yellow and Black SD logo printed for SD versions, he didn't find them in his copies.

Got this dvd(only $6.99) and it is as good as it looks in the shots. Very impressive by videosound. If a little company like videosound can produce results like this for a minor release like bichhoo, why cant eros do similar? Does anyone have the UK Bichoo dvd for comparison? Sound is also great but again same cheap videosound media. Did anyone else have probs with the adverts at the begining? definetly had some major probs there as mine were very messed up and also freeze for a bit. After I got passed this, there were no probs with the movie at all.

Ok!! Rana!! ji!! all info straightened!!

I bought it a while ago! I never opened it for a while!! Bad me!!

I think either from IW or SD direct? most likely from IW!

Film is on GOLD MEDIA! on the back says, SUPER DIGITAL/VIDEO SOUND (on the ring!!

DD 5.1 KAUSHAR sound at 448KBPS..wow!!

DUAL LAYER!!

BIT RATE, extremely high, ranging mostly from 7.5 to 8.7!!

Pnly one thing, what I never noticed..the DISC says..
""FOR RENTAL PURPOSE ONLY, NOT FOR SALE""

ha ha!! But, some body DID SELL IT TO ME!! :baaa:

Masti Man, the version you got recenly, is it the same as Arsh's.

Does it state Super Digital??

If not Super Digital, then any indication which company produced this disc and did it stay progressive??

Arsh's disc was on Gold media, you stated yours to be on Siver media?? Any comments??

I think, that explains, how multiple cloning can change sona into chandi..ha ha!! old vs/sd, or vs/md titles were on gold media to start with..As i bought my dvd long time ago!! so apun ko sona milgaya, but, i think, pq, is the same as he stated, presumably...vs did not include sub titles in judwaa, so picture stayed prog, just media deteriorated!!! but ishq/koyla/khamoshi/yes boss/judaiipktdk/pthht/virasat...every thing got changed!! :baaa: :stupid:

You must have heard, "Nakal ke liye bhi Akal ki zaroorat hoti hai".

Well, we found an exception. For these DVDs if they just had replicated the encodings without any changes, the DVD would have stayed in better (progressive) quality. They applied Akal and we got Interlaced DVDs.

Yes mine is on a crappy silver disc. I think it says media digital or media dimension on the ring. I certainly hope that the disc wont deteriorate over time as the pic and sound are great.
Judwaa is by super digital and it is a great disc although it appears to be silver. Picture is progressive and very detailed. Picture is pretty sharp and generally clean with good colours. There are however some scenes where the colours appear to be darker/duller and there are some dust marks and scratches on the print. These do not generally interfere alot with the film and its a good transfer overall. Probably give it 6.5 or 7/10

The sound also is quite good. Turned it up during the songs east or west and tan tana tan tan!! The movie is pure entertainment, a rare good movie from David Dhawan, who is known for producing sh*t.

BTW the Ishq VS dvd i got from IW also has no mention of SD on the cover or the disc and has media dimension written on it and its a silver disc. Movie has a Dolby Digital Intro(U know with the chopper flying and everything) though and it looks to be progressive with a great transfer. Colours are vibrant and pic is generally sharp. The main prob is the unclean source. Sound is also great.

VS have pioneered and are infamous for "Limited View" DVDs.
I didn't expect them to limit it to zero viewing.

Rana

P.S.
Keeping sarcasm aside, could it be the blackening (oxidation) of the silver layer that prevents light reflection?? As silver gets oxidized in a few months time after the manufacture of the disc, the disc doesn't play any more??

Just read the following news clip on cnn on limited viewing DVDs.

No joke. Video Sound missed on the patent. Their DVDs have had this property for quite some time.

"(CNN) -- The resourceful Q, James Bond's chief engineer, has captured moviegoers' imaginations for decades by outfitting the secret agent with the snazziest of spy gadgets: fake fingerprints, an underwater breather, toxic pens and killer umbrellas.

But reality might be catching up with the fictional spy.

Take, for example, the self-destructing DVD.

These discs play the information that is stored on them for a set amount of time -- eight to 60 hours. Then -- poof! -- the content mysteriously self-destructs.

"It fits the theme of James Bond very well," said Alan Blaustein, head of Flexplay, a two-year-old start-up in New York City that has patented the technology."
