Hmmm :sus: They’ve only had over three years yet to get it right what’s another one or two :keh: In one or two years, DVD will be a dying format and then you see Indian DVD makers getting it right? American DVD makers starting making hi-quality DVDs from very early on - one the very first R1 DVDs I got was New Line's Blade and that still to this day remains head and shoulders above any Indian DVD released to this day!

I disagree. American movies have not had great quality from the beginning. I remember my first experiences with some American DVDs; I was almost convinced that it was no better than VHS... the quality was almost exactly the same. Plus, the VHS was cheaper.

It's true we have authors like Eros and Video-sound who act like complete idiots and make horrible DVDs, but we also have great companies like Cinebella and even Columbia Tristar making some excellent DVDs. In two years time, I can envision an Indian movie on dvd with the same quality as Star Wars Episode 2. Don't forget, this dvd is not the norm for American DVDs, just as those Indian DVDs won't be the norm.

And regarding DVDs being a dying format: How long did the VHS last? I don't see DVDs dying until you find DVD recorders in most households... that too a few years after that happens. DVDs are here for quite some time

dvd forum is already backing toshiba and oops another compay :D for their HD-DVD (40 gigs),
sony, phillips, etc. will be coming out with their own version of HD-DVD (50 gigs)
these dvd's and dvd players will be coming out in late 2003 to spring of 2004
looks like indians dvd's will not reach reference quality status

(i rememeber reading it somewhere, forgot the source, sorry :oo: )
