Please! Please! All you distinguished folks out there. Name a retailer of indian dvd that actually send you dvd's that are intact at arrival. This is a cry for help!
It sound so easy, you put the dvd's in a sturdy box with shock absorbing stuff around them (paper, plastic) and abracadabra, the happy smiling customer receives dvd's with no loose discs, no scratches and no loose spindles. However, back to reality:

After hearing you folks praise IW i've ordered and have now received 2 big parcels. Each time without any protective stuff
around the dvd's. 5 dvd's with loose discs and scratches the first time and 2 dvd's the 2nd. So then i tried Indian CD Store and then received dvd's in a thin (Jiffy) paper bag! These guys are really optimistic about transatlantic postal carriage.
IBB actually packages carefully but isn't an option for some other reasons.
Don't get me wrong, the people at IW seems very nice and friendly but maybe don't seem to know how to treat parcels going outside US.

So, please please, can you wise, worthy people recommend a dealer (not criminal preferably) that actually sends you dvd's intact, maybe by using UPS. What about India Plaza or Neha flix?
:keh:

ooooo more and more problems at IW....hey HAHK, we pay so much for the dam S & H up there, and still they dont do a good job on it....tell this to all the IW CHAMCHAS to go tell em to do a better job on it :) ....this way the message will go faster than u talk to them ...hehehe....try to find one of those fools who are in their FAVORITE list.....they will get the word out to them fast.....hahahahhaa....see man whenever i order with them, usually i get a grip of em, atleast one or two comes out to be messed up....either they dont work, it was already defective, or turn out to be the dam F@CK who did the parcell, he placed the DVD that someone else just returned it cause it was DEFECTIVE....then i will have to go through all the dam hassle, go to the post office, return it and then wait another 3 weeks to get the dam dvd back again....what a customer service....now one would argue, they do give the dvd back with money refunded, well who the F cares....they should had packed it RIGHT in the first place....when i shop with India Plaza, Indianblockbuster or even CDguru, i never gotten any defective dvds.....if one of u IW addict come here and tell me to give u some proof, u can SHOVE it up yo ASSSS MF.... :)

Thanks for the names (india plaza, indofilms and superdvd)Shuman and Master J. I will have to continue my quest for a company with a decent packaging policy.
The people at IW really seems to be nice and if they just starts to be a bit more careful with the dvd's i would buy everything there. Low price is good but low prices and intact dvds better :)

I say all stores, for their own benefit and that of the customers, should just have free shipping for normal regular post, and then IF the customer wants it faster, they can pay for that.

HAHK... maybe you should call Afzal or e-mail him requesting special attention towards your parcel..and I sure he will oblige you in that aspect... Afterll he is there to win business right ?...

I have received stuff from IW for the past 1.5 years now without any problems... though I must sometimes the spindles did get damaged.. But it is highly unlikely that it was due to the lousy packagaing of IW as they always used packaging that was padded (and I didnt know how to OPEN IT PROPERLY....:D RANJ Pls advise :D )

The only thing being is that you may have to pay for the extra shipping charge :O

The last time I bought a few DVDs from CDGuru.com (and this is going back a while), I got them in a box, and the discs were wrapped in bubble wrap, meaning that they were tight in the box - no chance to move around. I don't think they do that for one or two dvds though.

Few stores I’ve brought DVDs from open the DVD packaging and either wrap the DVD in tissue or hold it down with sticky tape – so that its doesn’t get damaged in transit. Australian stores and cdstore.com.pk in particular do this in my experience. Drawback to this is that stores will usually get accused of sending used DVDs out.

Masiha,

MYKSH came in a standard case. No inlay card or anything. Disc was not on its spindle and loose. It has very small thin scratches here and there on the disc, but they look very fine, and so it doesn't impart a damaged look to the disc, but it does seem to have been 'handled'... although, consdering it was loose, maybe the little scratches came in transit. The disc played without problems, though.

MDK/NTJNH, and Raaz/Kasoor. Both discs came in their own thin cardboard fold-out case, with an outer sleeve. Discs themselves were in small plastic sleeves. Both discs played fine, although NTJNH if I recall did sometimes pause on its own and then continue. I don't know if this was an authoring problem, or perhaps some dirt on the disc or something. No scratches on the discs, although there was what looked like a streak going around the disc. Not a scratch, but it looks like a moisture streak you would get if you ran a wet finger across a smooth table surface. The streak doesn't go away, though. It didn't interfere with playback, and I have seen this before on other discs.

So, to summarize, the 2-in-1 dvds came better packaged than the single disc, and their cases were thin. The cover art was better as well. :) Hope that helps!

Sknath: Yes, maybe i should give the IW folks another chance.

Bhaskar: Bubble wrap or shredded paper stuffing (as IBB uses) yes that's exactly what i want around the dvd cases (Ali -unopened dvd's what i meant naturally). Then the shocks from angry postal staff may be absorbed by it and voilá, no broken spindles and loose discs. No scratches and no freezing of the film. CDGuru, hmm, will try them too i guess.

Thank's for your views

You mean that the spindles were broken even before they sent them then? That's bad sending damaged cases.

So IW have used padding/shock absorbers sending big parcels to you. I received 2 big parcels without any padding at all.
That means they purposely use safe packaging to some customers and none to others? That's bad.

I ordered 50+ dvds (over 700 USD) and received 6% discount. On this forum people say they get 10% discount. That's bad.

Some people receive good copies of Mann, i receive the faulty ones with no 5:1 sound and non-anamorphic even though i have to pay for the mint ones. That's bad

The 31st i asked what to do about scratchy copies from last shipment and also about defective Mann. Still no fucking answer and it's the 4th today. Good knows how many of these dvd's i ordered that will prove to be defective.

I order dvds from all over the world and i really love indian film, but this is so frustrating. What's wrong with this dealers?
They seem to be working in their own shit dimension.

Here's my experiences with indian dvd dealers up to now:

IW: 2 big parcels and many defective dvd. Sloppy packaging. Defective second rate editions. Not same discount as others. Slow answering of email. Sorry but this is the sad truth

IBB: My first indian dvd contact. No problems at all until this summer. Good safe packaging and not one single faulty dvd - no defective editions and no scratches (until once lately). Then some problems arise regarding crediting of my card etc. and i moved on to others

IndianCDstore: Only received 2 dvds yet in a padded envelope
1 OK and one scratchy. They answer email. I'm awaiting a bigger parcel from then and don't know yet about safe packaging or not

Sorry if this was lengthy but i had to write off some of my frustration. If only Amazon or some had these lovely films for sale. But as long as these retailers have a monopoly selling them they can treat customers like shit

HumAapkeHainji,

As said before some of the dvd damages are actually package independant. I bought many dvds online from IW, NX, EBAY. Number of dvds from IW where spindles were damaged causing scratchful dvds. They played fine in the dvd player, so i didn't complain, or return as it would cost me money to return.

I really wonder why a dvd would come out of the spindle where the spindle isn't even broken. It happened to me not only with Indian Dealers, but with Columbia House also.

As far IW using padded envelopes, yes they used to send me parcels with padded but not since i 've been in the special list. Their Discount or any offer is concern, you really will have to go to extra mile to get it. They do respond to emails, it's just matter of time and priority. Received a DVD from them recently USED, they explained saying it's simply scratches due to lose case, but i received the dvd intact. Supposedly they already have sent me the replacement about a two weeks ago. Still waiting to see the face of it.

Their packages used to come in about 5 business days. Used to send new DVDs. Used to respond quicker to the emails. :oh:

NX seem to be very consistent in their service. I did receive couple of dvd cases damaged but that's about it. They even have the courtesy to offer replacement. They do send packages in regular padded envelope, can't complain, haven't receive any dvds damaged :)
