just saw the cover of Namak Halal which is being sold under the Tip Top Video label. I wanted to know if this is the DEI version or a newly mastered version?

Tip top re-release a lot of DVDs for the UK market!! Tip top have released Namak Halal, just like they have released KNPH, Hello Brother and Biwi No 1... they are not pirates but basically are repackaged discs!! Tip Top are a legit organisation and are based within the uk!!

Yep Faddy's right - Tip Top officially get the DEI, Video Sound and other DVDs certified by the UK censors BBFC and distributed them all over the UK shops. The titles even end up at high street retailers. So in short here not pirates. The Namak Halal in question is DEI version of the DVD just repackaged.

BTW Panic where did you see this Namak Halal DVD?
BTW take 2: faddy you avatar pic doesn’t work! :p

Tip Top are a little lazy as they could have got DEI to do the DVD of Nanak Halaal in Anamorphic and in the PAL format making the product more UK Friendly...

They just seem to only repackage it, any of the orignal rights holder can do that, but they should also make it more a Special product to increase UK sales.

Still have my laser disc of Namak Halal released about 6 years ago by Esquire. I know it's bootleg but in those days Hindi movies on laser were few and very expansive about $60 to 75 per title.

Folks let me get that straight....they repackage DVDs and sell them and they are not PIRATES ? I thought DEI DVDs, were sold as DEI DVDs in the USA and UK also ? Can someone check this with DEI and confirm this.

I dont care abt the Videosound versions, as they can go to hell !

As far as I know Tip Top Video are official distributors of DEI and Video Sound DVDs in the UK (not all, but select few titles). As DEI continue to on issue false BBFC certificates on their DVDs and sell on the UK import market – the only legitimate way to sell them in shops in to get them properly certified by the UK censors. Tip Top Video must have an agreement with DEI to allow them to-do this which I believe is the case. If its not, then they can be called pirates – which is pretty big risk to take!

Its news to me that Video Sound released Namak Halal DVD too – if they have it could be the Video Sound version. Although the very first time I heard about Hamak Halal being released by Tip Top came from Bollywooddvd.co.uk ages back – then I presumed it would be the DEI version. Not entirely sure now

Ali ???

DEI hold official DVD world-wide rights to the film, while Video Sound had VHS rights and assumed that they too hold DVD rights which is not the case. Dam muppets!

TipTop version looks certain to be the DEI version re-packaged for the UK market. Personally DEI could do this themselves as Tip Top are known to be pirates too, and don't market thier products as good as other UK based Indian video companies like EROS LTD. or Famous Video.[I]

I recently got this DVD from IW (DEI version) and watched it this weekend. The print is pretty ok except for some color problems but what I found really annoying is that there is some replay going on in the video. Especially in the last 1/2 hour of the movie. THe audio continues as normal and the video kinda repeats itself for a couple of seconds.

Anyone seen this. Any help is appreciated.
