Abhishek and Karisma will not get engaged October 11???
The plans to combine father Amitabh Bachchan's birthday with son Abhishek's engagement October 11 have been dropped since Karisma Kapoor's mother Babita and sister Kareena will be out of town.
Only Babita, who is in New Zealand with her younger daughter, will join the birthday celebrations. Kareena cannot be back in time as she is shooting non-stop for Sooraj Barjatya's film.
"How can we have a formal engagement without Kareena? She's Karisma's only sister. I wouldn't like to go through such a big day in my life without my sister's participation," reasons Abhishek's mother Jaya.
A final decision on the engagement date will be taken when everyone from the Bachchan and Kapoor family can sit together for a meeting. "As far as we are concerned, Karisma is already our bahu," adds Jaya.
This birthday, though special on many counts, will begin in the way all of Bachchan's birthdays are celebrated --- with a family lunch. Abhishek is expected back October 11 for a day from New Zealand where he is shooting with his future sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor. They are shooting for Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon.
Fans of Amitabh and members of the Amitabh Bachchan Fan Club can meet their icon on his birthday at his residence Jalsa, in Mumbai's northwestern suburb of Juhu.
At 3 pm, Jaya Bachchan will release her book on Amitabh Bachchan, To Be Or Not To Be at J W Marriott Hotel's discotheque The Enigma, in Juhu.
After the book release, Amitabh Bachchan will sign copies of the book.
