* Pirate DVD
* Apparently By : F.P. Entertainment
* Comes with extra disc of Hrithik Roshan Songs, dialogue is behind
* Pixellated, clearly a VHS version copied to DVD. VHS rainbow colors appear where scenes are cut.
* Squashed video trying to be Widescreen.

In the USA we are receiving a ton emails every day about pirated K3G DVDs, and the good news is that almost everyone is not buying or renting the pirated DVD. This is great news for us!!!

I don’t what you said is good or bad ??? 'Almost everyone' - isn’t that like saying some people are still buying pirates anyway! Pirate are always brought by people in the minority and would hazard a guess that the pirate DVD of K3G is best selling pirate DVD of them all – it goes with the territory – popular new film, popular title on DVD – pirate or not.

Only if we had official pirate seller reports to confirm this – I wonder how many video shop owners and alike are selling the K3G pirate? Or even maybe suggest how many people are asking for this film on DVD?

The pirate DVD is selling by the bucket load according to my local Indian video rental store. He said he had to order over 35 pirate DVD copies for both of his stores in just one week alone. That is quite a high number of one Indian DVD title sold in a week!

But I'll be having the last laugh when those very same people will see me walking away with my supplement loaded orignal version when it comes out from Yash Raj in aug 2002 - or jan 2003!

In U.S.A. and Cananda the film only saw a 20% drop in collections compared to it's first week. The North American market has already been flooded with pirated versions of K3G dvd's. Despite rampant piracy, the film continues to do brisk business in theaters across the continent. This just proves, that good cinema will always get it's due at the box office. In two weeks K3G has collected over 2 million dollars in North America. (taken from AVS).

*Even though the pirates have flooded the market with crap DVDs of K3G. The pirated DVDs are not having much effect on K3G in North America. I don't know what the UK box office report is for K3G in the second week.

I wouldn't be surprised if the official DVD of K3G beats Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai as the highest selling DVD once it is released!!

In the UK its dropped one place to 4! Which is an achievement in itself.

So conclusion; piracy does shit all to box office.

According to Komal Natha on BBC Flimi Duniya, K3G has become the biggest Bollywood Hit in the overseas market ever. Surppassing the collections of other films like Hum Saath Saath Hain, Yaadein, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Taal.

And its a good sign that even with the large quantitly of pirated K3G DVDs doing the rounds at local video store (even where i live in Toronto). It has not affected B.O. sales at all. Whereas, i just reccently found out that the local Indian Cinema's are playing K3G in 3 different screens and the film still get's house full shows on Tuesdays,Friday's & Saturdays.(with all Tuesdays, ticket prices are chopped in half down to $4).

That is not entirely true. K3G is not the ordinary run of the mill movie and is the kind of film families come out in droves to watch and that is why piracy does not effect it as much. On the other hand the average movie does get affected.
