Only two extras are included, but they are both good enough to make you forget there isn't more. Up first we have The Making of Monsoon Wedding featurette, a slight if entertaining peek behind the scenes with the typical interviews and brief production footage. But Mira Nair and the eager cast are winning, so there are worse ways to spend 12 minutes.

Certainly, the real shining star of this collection is the screen-specific audio commentary by Nair. She's eloquent, well-spoken, imaginative and offers plenty of great insight into the cinematic evolution of this sleeper. It's a wonderful commentary track filled with grandeur and honesty, and even those who may not care for the film should give it a listen.

Good video, good audio, meaningful extras...what else can a guy ask for!!

Not so great review from Upcomingdiscs.com;

Quote:
Audio

What happened to the sound? For a good chunk of the film, the audio experience is deeply uninspiring: the sound effects have barely any rear speaker presence (lots of missed opportunities), the sound is thin, and at least one song is so distorted you'd think it was being played on a grammophone. By the second half, things have improved, but the sound is nowhere as lush as it is in the featurette.

Video

The colours are good, the contrasts strong, ,and the image is presented in the original 1,85:1 widescreen aspect. There is a fair bit of grain, however. The picture doesn't look as dead-sharp as it should.

I am sorry. It is 2.5/5. Generally I believe in dvdtalk ratings and take them as reference to my Hollywood purchases. I won't buy any disk that scores less than 4 for Video.

OK! guys..just a quick supplement: on THIS FIRST HINDI DTS 5.1 sound track..DVD!

SOUND is JUST wow!! I will compare DD to DTS..later on!

PQ..widescreen, NON anamorphic!

PICTURE is GONA glow on STD, non widescreen, PICTURE TUBE SETS! cheers!

COLORS..just worth, EATING! not only watching..A bit dark, a bit grainy..to my DISLIKENING! I wish..UNIVERSAL, would have gone 2 disc, putting extras on seperate disc,!

Anamorphic enhanced the film, and giving higher BIT RATES! I have not checked mine!

SUB TITLES: damn are BURNT in!! Shit, when u turn, spanish/french, u have to see 2 sets of subtitles, one on top and one on bottom, of the PICTURE! both widescreen unfriendly!

BUT OVERALL, this VERSION of MONSOON WEDDING..in NON ANAMORPHIC VIDEO..is prob AS GOOD AS IT GETS>>>!!

Or as AUDIT said for JEANS< MIX VIDEO of R2 with AUDIO of R1 and VOILA!! U have THE BEST OF THE BOTH WORLDS..PERFECT EDITION, or ? Wait/ for a 2 DISC..SP EDITION!! :baaa:

Question:
If I wanted to buy this movie, should I buy this version, or is there some other version upcoming (The reason I ask is I remember reading about a rental version vs. a retail version).
