I've only seen it as two places; one I wont touch with a barge pole and the other is http://www.asiansounds.com/ - pricey but I’ve ordered it anyway so let you know when I get it.

Small bits of info on this so called new Gadar DVD. There is no such thing as a re-mastered version as in anamorphic video and 5.1 sound. The new GVI version is said to be the same as the Video Sound disc - 1.90:1 cropped video and pseudo 5.1 sound. The only new stuff is on the extras disc as mentioned before.

Full review once I get the DVD later on this week.

Well just as the claims of a "reputed honest" store were debunked after users decided to be BALI/Hallal ka Bakras, I think its time we safely call JOLLY's bluff of trying to take us for a JOLLY good ride by promising us da impossible ! Just a few words :-
Shame on you Jolly and shame on your GVI ! :angry:

Let's wait for Ali's verdict before rejecting the new release.

A small ray of hope is that perhaps, as mentioned in another zulm thread, we will get Gadar Songs (aprox 30 min) on DEI's next Songs DVD in DEI quality. Waiting anxiously for that.

Got this DVD today :baaa: Had a quick glance through it - will put up both this and VS reviews up later.

First impressions - looks worse than the Video Sound DVD. It's got a very processed video look with aliasing problems galore. It's cropped and non-anamorphic about same as Video Sound DVD. Sound is not even encoded in 5.1 but just 2.0 – but does come up as 2.0 surround – but didn’t haven time to test how good (or bad) this is.

Package contains 2 DVDs and 1 CD. First is the film, second contains 'Making of Gadar' and 'Anataskshri' :wot: The CD I is promo music of Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar - didn’t have time to check this out.

More later…

Ali

Arsh you right - this is complete waste if money. Reviews of both DVDs on the main site. Here are some comparison shots of Video Sound and GVI DVD;

Top is Video Sound DVD, bottom is GVI DVD.

Few notes;
- Both GVI and VS are NTSC - yet GVI is has shorter running time of 178mins compared to the 186mins of VS DVD
- colour and contract is better on the GVI DVD
- compression, motion and noise reduction artifacts is worse on the GVI DVD, VS looks more solid (and that’s saying something for what is a poor DVD in the first place)
- extras on the GVI DVD are of very poor quality. The making of especially has very poor video and audio. Antakshari is OK.
- correction to my post before, the audio CD of Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar is not a promotional disc but the full retail audio CD containing 8 song tracks.

If you have a video equaliser tool on your DVD player, you can brighten up the VideoSound version of Gadar so it looks a very similar to the new GVI version. I tried this on my Sony 725 and I was surprised with the results. Gadar (VS) is still a shit disc but at least the colours can be enjoyed a bit more as the filmakers intended. Its a shame the GVI version is lousy too, what a long wait for nothing!
