A lot has been written about producers Bunty Walia and Jassi Walia's next project, to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia [MUMBAI SE AAYA MERA DOST]. But none had the official version on the film. Here it is:

Starring Amitabh Bachchan in the central role, the film [working title is EK AJNABEE] will co-star Arjun Rampal, Perizaad Zorabian and Baby Rucha [MAIN AISA HI HOON] in key roles. The film will be shot in a 35-day schedule, from May 22, in Bangkok. The penultimate 7-day schedule will take place in July in Mumbai.

Initially, John Abraham had been approached for the lead role, “but John's dates posed a big problem. Since we required bulk dates and John was shooting back to back, we had to opt for someone else,” Apoorva confirms.

Also, Dia Mirza was the original choice for the role that is being essayed by Perizaad now. “Dia couldn't do the film because she is committed to participate in I.I.F.A. It was Dia's decision to opt out,” Apoorva clarifies.

But there's talk that the director had been 'good friends' with Dia [the media has been speculating it!] and had decided not to mix business with pleasure. “It's completely untrue. Just because Abhishek, Lara, Dia and I hang out together, it doesn't mean I am seeing Dia,” he denies the affair outright, but continues in the same breath, “Believe me, it's my loss… but Dia and I've decided to work together in my next project.”

Meanwhile, music composer Amar Mohile has already recorded two out of five songs for the film.

An ajnabee called Amitabh

Amitabh Bachchan has surpassed all heroes this year.

His films Bunty Aur Babli, Black, Sarkar and Waqt: Race Against Time have done a business of Rs 1 billion already. Quite an achievement for a man who will turn 63 on October 11.

This December, Amitabh will be seen in Ek Ajnabee, co-starring Arjun Rampal, Perizaad Zorbian, Kelly Dorjee and Vikram Chatwal.

The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, who had earlier directed Abhishek Bachchan in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost.

Ek Ajnabee film is about a man (Amitabh) who loses interest in life, until he meets an eight-year-old girl. Bachchan's character has been hired by the girl's father to protect her from being kidnapped.

The film was completed in 40 days, in a start-to-finish schedule in Bangkok, Thailand.

Man, I saw the trailer, and I have to say, this looks really lifted from Man On Fire. I'm dying to see an action-film that stars Amitabh Bachchan, but I'm hoping that this isn't a "horrible movie that's saved only by Bachchan's presence." Fingers: crossed. :?
