There has been a lot of mis-reporting in the news - Mishti Chakraborty, who made her debut in Kaanchi, is still very much alive. The actress who has passed away is Mishti Mukherjee:

So glad that Mishti (KAANCHI) that we knew is fine.

Mixed up reporting caused, perhaps correct name but wrong ID. The link content that I copy pasted, I notice that they have made the correction too.

Could not find any info on IMDB for Mishti Mukherjee who died.

We missed another entry of a respectable actress. Her name is Geethanjali, people may recognize her as the actress in Parasmani (1963). She died in 2019, on October 31.

Veteran actress Geetanjali passes away
By - TNNCreated: Nov 1, 2019, 07:00 IST

veteran actress Geetanjali breathed her last late on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment for a cardiac arrest. She was 72. Her passing has left her family and loved ones from the film industry in shock. In an illustrious career that spanned over six decades, Geetanjali featured in over 200 films in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. Introduced to the silver screen by NTR with Seetharama Kalyanam in 1961, some of her noted films include Dr Chakravarthy, Gudachari 116, Bobbili Yuddham and more.
Born as Mani in Kakinada, the actress was re-christened Geetanjali by Lakshmikant-Pyarelal who helmed her film Parasmani. Hailing from a family of four girls and one boy, she first performed on stage as a four-year-old, when she did a classical dance with her sister. There was no looking back after that.
Geethanjali’s performance as Sita in her debut film became her calling card. She went on to act alongside major matinee idols of the time, including NTR, ANR, Sivaji Ganesan, and Rajkumar. She married her co-star Ramakrishna, with whom she worked in many films. Tamannaah-starrer That is Mahalakshmi, that is yet to release, will be Geethanjali’s last film.
remembering his mother as a happy soul who never let her illness take control of her life, her son and actor Adith Srinivas, got emotional. Several Tollywood stars too poured in their tributes. “She was introduced to the silver screen as Sita and she had all the qualities of the goddess. She was like a mother to everyone here, sticking with us through thick and thin,” said Naresh. Breaking down, Hema, who couldn’t control her tears said, “I used to be very close to her. She was so motherly; she would always ensure I was in a good frame of mind.”
A shocked Uttej added, “We are all in deep shock because we all loved Geetanjali garu. She was the embodiment of film industry for me. I used to tease her by calling her Geetha... I spoke to her just yesterday.”
Manchu Manoj tweeted, “Sad to hear #Geetanjali garus sudden demise. My condolences-to the family ... she was very close to our family and it’s really heartbreaking.... u will always live through Cinema andi. Rest in peace...” (sic)
The mortal remains of the actress were kept at her home in Nandinagar. The last rites were performed on Thursday evening.

Narinder Chanchal

Rishi Kapoor - Dimple Kapadia film Bobby fame:
"Beshak Mandir Masjid todo..." Nai Bolna Main Ta Nai Bolna

Rajesh Khanna film AVTAR:
"Chalo bulawa aaya hai"

He may not have too many more songs in films, but these two songs alone made him overnight sensation. He was a top 'Mata Ki Bhaintein' singer and perhaps never wanted to court film songs.

https://frontline.thehindu.com/dispatch ... 637713.ece
Last year, he sang a song about the coronavirus, little realising he would be hospitalised months later in November. He never recovered from age-related illness, and breathed his last on January 22, 2021.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
His powerful rendition of the devotional, "Chalo bulawa aaya hai" brought hundreds of cinegoers to movie theatres. The song was almost unavoidable for pilgrims on their way to the Vaishno Devi shrine near Jammu. In fact, his bhajans kept them company on their climb up to the shrine.

There is an interesting anecdote about how the song gave a livelihood in more ways than Chanchal or the music directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal imagined. When the film played at Gianand cinema in east Delhi, a local music band mastered the song. As the film would be about to begin at the cinema, the band would gather outside the hall and start playing the song, and the viewers who would have come to watch the film would often listen to their song and give them a rupee or two. The band made good money playing "Chalo bulawa aaya hai".It was piety mixed with commerce.
For Chanchal, this was the best compliment of all as throughout his career he came to be identified with high-pitched bhajans, the kind that made you stop in your tracks. Chanchal would not just sing bhajans extolling the greatness of a deity, he would even dress up in a “Mata ki chunri” and back it up with a conspicuous tilak.

Film scholar and Journalist Raju Bharatan died in June last year. We hadn't reported this. He has also penned biographies of a lot of public figures of yore: Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar and Naushad. Obviously, he is not much of a household name. Although I do think that his legacy will remain unparalleled for a very long time.

I came across the news today while attempting to look up a film critic who died yesterday. His name is Lalu Makhija. He was 80
