lol. Its is very difficult to rely on reviews for Hindi films. We have to rely wither on the self appointed box office guru Taran or rediff which seems to hate every hindi film except a few. The best is when it doesnt like a film in Hindi but likes the film in another language :)

Perhaps we have to wait for Khalid's reviews which i pay more attention to

Unfortunately, the review comes out on Sunday

well, it's not just hindi reviews. most reviews are horrible. i don't even read english reviews. I just look for their rating, for example: i read the first and last paragraph of each review..and their number/star rating.

anyway, i know which movies i want to watch anyhow :) 98% of the time the movies I expect to be duds end up being duds (for me).

I dont think that anyone can review his own film except after a long period of time. Also it shows that a good critic doesnt make a good filmmaker.

Just because he didnt make great movies, doesnt make him any less of a critic

That’s not true , The entire French New Wave was built atop of such critics as Truffaut, Godard, Rohmer, Rivette and they all turned out to be excellent film makers. Our own Satyajit Ray/Riwtik Ghatak were great critics, they regularly wrote about films and it helped them shape their carrier as filmmakers. Satyajit Ray’s article blasting popular films in India landed him his first job as art director (which he later quit !). Another wonderful example is Donald Ritchie ( the Japanese film/cultural guru) – he was/is a successful avant-garde film maker .So the list goes on and on ...

It is true that not all critics can be filmmakers, but there has been shining examples in world cinema where it turned out to be so and I am glad it happened ( hoping a similar Indian New Wave will come through !)

I dont agree with you!! on one part! But dont deny he is a good critic!

Dont you think he will be watching his own films? and he did not find any flaws!

My point is That for both Fiza and Tehzeeb he had good cast, good team and strong themes!! Only reason films were not acclaimed or were not appreciated was because of his sub par direction imho.

But now as he has gone down into the drain to join hands with likes Ghaii, Dhavan etc, I dont care how he handles Silsilay with crappy team/music with another Crook Vashu Bhagnani!

I misspoke. I meant a good critic doesnt neccessarily make a good filmmaker. I certainly hope that we have good critics and filmmakers in India.

IMHO, D is a redundant film, that RGV has already benefited 2 times as Satya and Company!

But these greedy film makers they dont quit! :( fools!

After having seen this film, I stick with my original statement "I'm scared".

Overall, I truly enjoyed this film, especially after watching telugu Mega Stars "Andharivadu" just prior to watching D

BUT...as arsh mentioned, It is quite redundant! I haven't seen Company but I have seen Satya. While I was watching D, I was thinking to myself this almost a ditto copy of Satya, with minor differences. But I appreciate the way the film was made, and I'd purchase a good dvd of it (if it was available, but it's not, so I won't  )

I'm going to order this DVD soon:

It's also an RGV production, directed by JD. Chakravarthy. Looks interesting.

Pha Ji!! wait till you see Company! Satya was kind a bit less urbanized version of company imho, and only thing that gets better in next attempt is that film makers become more bold and agressive depicting, gore, bloodshed and voilence!! to fullfill satiety of public to the most!

It was promoted though as if RGV directed the film himself, but the movie flopped anyhoo. It's directed by JD Chakravarthy (Satya lead). The movie title is "Madhyanam Hatya" aka Afternoon Murder.
