Me too! But noticed on their site there not showing Satte-pe-Satta as they couldn't obtain a decent print!

Quote:
PLEASE NOTE THESE SCHEDULE UPDATES: We regret that the film SATTE PE SATTA, previously announced for this series, is now unavailable. NAMAK HALAL will be shown on Digi-Beta as it is only available in this format. NAMAK HALAAL will screen only once in on April 14 at 8:30pm. The schedule below is correct and updated. Films preceded by a * are new additions to the schedule.

I would love to see Agneepath on the big screen again. Hope they do something like this in the UK.

Why Sholay, Deewar and AAA not included, Read on:

Bachchan classics missing at US festival!

The shocking omission of three Bachchan classics Deewaar, Sholay and Amar Akbar Anthony from the Lincoln package raises several questions about the superstar's vast repertoire and how it needs to be harnessed for retrospective purposes.

Jaya Bachchan who went all-out to get the best films into this posh retrospective is very upset by the way doors were shut on the face of a festival that's important and prestigious for the entire film industry.

Says Mrs Bachchan, "We managed to get Anand, Saudgar, Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Satte Pe Satta, Namak Halaal, Agneepath, Aks, Aankhen, Dev, Khakee and of course Black. But we couldn't get three of the most important films."

Apparently the distributor of Amar Akbar Anthony, Rajiv Rai who holds the world rights of Deewaar and Ramesh Sippy's nephew Sasha Sippy who owns the rights of Sholay proved impediments in making the festival complete. Sighs Jaya, "It's been a herculian task to collect the films for the festival. Most producers have been very kind and generous. Unfortunately some of them haven't seen the importance of the retrospective."

"I had major problems with Amar Akbar Anthony, Deewaar and Sholay. It's such a pity…but these are landmark films of Amitabh Bachchan. They won't be shown at the festival in New York. These are three classics that are an integral part of Amitji's repertoire. I offered to pay for the print, subtitling…everything. That's what I did with many of the film including Anand, Abhimaan, Saudagar, Zanjeer."

"I've promised to preserve them and not use them for commercial purposes and every time I take them out of the country I'll inform the producers. I was willing to follow the protocol. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for some. What can we do? It's a problem we'll face whenever there's a festival of Amitabh Bachchan's films."

The prestigious package handpicked by the biggest connossieur of Bachchan flicks, Jaya Bachchan contains 12 of the actors vintage neo-classics from Anand (1970) to Black (2005). In between these two brilliant brackets are such favourites of Jaya as the little-known Saudagar directed by celebrated art director Sudhendu Roy, today's hot shot art director Sharmista Roy's father.

"I am not responsible for the omission of SHOLAY from retrospective", says Sasha Sippy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Manissha Despaande

Sasha Sippy, the nephew of Ramesh Sippy and the person in command at Sippy Films, (the distribution office of the late G.P. Sippy), has expressed shock and astonishment, about a news in a section of the press, that holds him responsible for the omission of the Amitabh Bachchan classic, SHOLAY, from the New York film festival. A section of the media had recently published the omission of three of Bacchan's all-time famous films, DEEWAR, AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY and SHOLAY from a retrospective of Bachchan starrers, currently being held at the Film Society of Lincoln Centre, New York.

The report which quoted Jaya Bachchan, said she had a tough time trying to get hold of the three films and further said that Sasha Sippy, who owned the rights of SHOLAY, apparently proved to be an impediment in the omission of SHOLAY.

According to Sasha, neither Jaya Bachchan nor anyone from her office contacted her for the prints of the film. "I would have been glad to give the print of the film, had I been contacted. Why should I refuse the film when I know that it will only add to the reputation of the film and our distribution office? Besides, I am surprised that Jaya Bachchan did not broach the topic last week when she was sitting only a few seats away from me on a Jet Airways Mumbai-Delhi flight?," Sasha asks.

Sasha has appealed to all those who have any requests in connection with the prints of SHOLAY to contact him directly. "I'd like those concerned to contact directly at Sippy Films and not at the office of Ramesh Sippy," he says.

I went to see them all (including to Bachchan's personal appearance). They did not have "Satte Pe Satta," but, did have "Amar Akbar Anthony." With "Namak Halaal," we were basically shown the Eros DVD...lol.
