'Queen' Marches On - Second Week May Top First Week
18 March 2014

Queen continued its fantastic run on its second Monday as it collected around 2.75-3 crore nett due to a holiday for Holi on Monday. The affect of holi was more pronounced in some areas than others.

The business of Queen is now around the 31 crore nett mark and the second week actually has chances to surpass the first week. Even if it does not the business at worst will be near or on par with the business of week one. This is a rare occurance in the multiplex era.

Queen has been aided by the fact that Bewakoofiyan has not done well and the competition around it has been weak as compared to other multiplex films like Hasee Toh Phasee, Highway and Shaadi Ke Side Effects but that would have made a difference of around 10-20% and its still an achievement as the film has gone from a less than 2 crore nett first day and now looking at a 50 crore nett plus lifetime business.

'Queen' - Two Thumbs Up
There are movies that one can't wait for to get over. In fact most of what Bollywood consistently puts out, falls in that category. 'Queen', however, is a movie that runs for a relatively long 146 minutes, yet one wishes it wouldn't end. Vikas Bahl, take a bow, for a wonderfully charming, & entertaining movie. The main protagonist Rani, goes from shy and vulnerable, to bold and daring. Her transformation is drastic. Yet she remains simple at heart and her attitude remains the same. Rani's character is not an easy one for even the most accomplished actors. Yet, Kangana Ranaut essays the role with utmost ease, almost living it. Her performance, to put it subtly, is nothing short of being a revelation. She is ably supported by a wonderful ensemble of actors, with a special mention for Lisa Haydon as Vijaylakshmi, who befriends Rani on her arrival in Paris and plays the catalyst for her transformation. Although, it's still early in the year, I seriously doubt there will be any stronger contenders than Queen and Kangana Ranaut for the Best Movie and Best Actress categories. The movie is very highly recommended. Truly, "Hungama ho gaya".

Queen sure is Surprise Hit of the year. Looks like, it will beat all time record for the 4th week Box Office Collections for an Indian film.

In the 4th week and it opens in Ottawa. Any one among Indian diaspora, I came across, says they'll be watching this film in theatre.

Queen Crosses 50 Crore In Three Weeks
28 March 2014

Queen grossed an excellent 11.50 crore nett in its third week taking its three week business to 50.50 crore nett. The third week figures are the highest of 2014 by a distance as Jai Ho grossed around 3.75 crore nett and Gunday 2.25 crore nett.

The film has surpassed the business of multiplex films like Hasee Toh Phasee, Highway and Shaadi Ke Side Effects by leaps and bounds. The film is really scoring well in Mumbai city, Delhi NCR, East Punjab and Bangalore though its run in smaller cities is coming to an end.

The fourth week should see good numbers again and there not many films that hold collections into week four and it could be that Queen comes out with a fourth week that is amongst the highest ever.
