Zanjeer (English: Shackles; titled Toofan in Telugu) is an upcoming Indian action film directed and produced by Apoorva Lakhia, shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. The film marks the Bollywood debut of popular Tollywood actor Ram Charan in the lead role along with Priyanka Chopra. Prakash Raj joins the cast after success in Hindi films, like Wanted, Singham, and Dabangg 2. It is a remake of the 1973 Hindi film of the same name. The Telugu version of the film is to be dubbed in Tamil and Malayalam. The tentative release date is scheduled for September 06, 2013.

Zanjeer (2013) is a huge DISASTER

Zanjeer has emerged as one of the biggest disasters of the year. The film costing around 60 crore including print and marketing costs has managed to gross under 10 crore nett in its first weekend.

The film does have a Telugu version (Thoofan) which has done better due to its opening but even that version has falling collections. The Hindi version will not even do a share of 10 crore. The breakdown for the first three days is as follows:

Friday - 3.25 crore

Saturday - 2.75 crore

Sunday - 3.25 crore


TOTAL - 9.25 crore

To be honest I never watched the original AB version. Regardless, this was absolutely horrid! Will try to watch the AB version now to see how it compares, for sure BETTER!

Now a days .. a lot of hindi films coming out are totally stupid and ridiculous (Chennai Express for example)! I hardly watch as much as I use to. Family cinema days seem to be a thing of the past now ..
