'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' Opens Very Well
27 July 2012

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum opened very well at multiplexes with collections around the 60-70% mark. The opening at multiplexes was similar to Bol Bachchan but with a less shows as compared to Bol Bachchan. Multiplexes in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad all opened to good houses. The mutiplexes in CP Berar, CI and Rajasthan also opened well.

The single screen opening was a bit lower but that is expected as the cast is not too strong but overall it should post a healthy first day total on strength of multiplexes. It is by the far the best opening of all Riteish Deshmukh or Tusshar Kapoor films where they have been the solo leads.

Kyaa Super Kool Hain hum has been released on around 1400 screens across the country.

'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' Scores Very Well In Its First Weekend
30 July 2012

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum did very well over its first weekend. the film did not show huge growth over the weekend but that was expected as its first day came in at a high level. The Saturday business of the film was similar to Friday while Sunday managed to have 15-20% growth.

The film grossed around 21.50 crore over the weekend. Friday was around 6.75 crore nett, Saturday was around the 7 crore nett region while Sunday is around 8-8.25 crore nett as per early estimates. The weekend is 21.75-22 crore nett approx.

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum performed best in Mumbai circuit with collections around the 9 crore nett mark. A major portion of the Sunday jump came from Gujarat which was up 30-35%. The Maharashtra side cities in the CP Berar circuit like Nagpur also put up very good weekend numbers.

'Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum' rakes Rs. 29 crore, Ekta ecstatic

Film and daily soap producer Ekta Kapoor says she is overwhelmed by the box office response to her recent project Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum. The film, which opened last Friday and is a sequel to Kya Kool Hai Hum (2005), has already raked in over Rs.29 crore. “We were told that since our brand was seven years old, we’ll have a Rs.10 crore opening. We had the highest opening during Ramzan. I'm totally overwhelmed,” Ekta said at a press conference Wednesday.

“When I started this film, I had a profit and loss sheet. The film had cost us Rs.13 crore and we thought it will make Rs.15 crore. We said if it crosses Rs.20, we’ll call it a hit and if crosses Rs.25 crore, it will be a super hit. Today on the fifth day, it has crossed Rs.29.5 crore,” she said.

The producer played safe with the critics and said, “Critics were so vocal about how much they hated the film. We’ll change next time,” she said. Apologising for the humour in the film, Ekta said, “I never took off on any one person. The jokes were supposed to be on movies. I want to say sorry to everyone who thinks that they have been made fun of by us.”

After her previous film, The Dirty Picture, was not telecast on prime time TV despite 59 cuts, Ekta has made sure this does not happen to Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and worked on alternative scenes for television viewing of the film. She said she was scared of people comparing Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum with Kyaa Kool Hain Hum.

“Once you go wider with the budget and the name of the film, there are more view points. All sequels have a comparison issue. That is why I don’t do franchises on television,” the 37-year-old said.

Speaking more about the word of small screen, she said that it was her ‘bread and butter’ and that she would dedicate the next six months only to television.

'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' Set To Cross 45 Crore
10 August 2012

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum did fairly well in week two grossing around 8 crore nett taking its two week total to around 42.75 crore nett. The film has fared very well in the Mumbai circuit where the final distributor share will be around 9 crore.

The film held up well on the weekdays as the business of Jism 2 crashed. The film should add around 3 crore nett business from here on as it will not be in many theatres when Ek Tha Tiger releases on Wednesday.

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum has done three times the business of Kyaa Kool Hain hum which did around 15 crore nett when released in 2004.
