That harmless comparision will have boosted TA's overly inflated ego even more !!!

Try reading Khalid Mohammed's reviews on Mid-Day (http://www.mid-day.com) under columnists.....also Dinesh Raheja's stuff on Rediff.com. I dunno which magazine he writes reviews for currently. Then there is Jitendra Kothari who used to free lance for India-Today sometime ago and for sure Anupama Chopra (also free lancing for India-Today a while ago). These are by far the best movie critics today in India writing about movies from Bollywood.

Deepa Gahlot?

Guys take it easy, all I was asking was if Taran is as famous as Ebert and if his reviews are read by many in India.

Thanks to all for the wonderful suggestions on Indian Cinema Critics. I used to read ( still do) http://www.upperstall.com. This is a nice website, in case you did not know already - Comes Highly recommended.

I used to respect this man's reviews as I didn't really know any better. But yeah, after you consistently give terrible movies like MPKDH good reviews (I'm a huge fan of the leads in that movie but I still refuse to own it) and slam down quality films while CONSTANTLY puffing up your ego for the Web to see... I pretty much stick to PlanetBollywood or other reviewing sites. I hope IndiaFM wisens up eventually and hires new reviewers, geeze.

I wonder about Indiafm in general. Did you notice how Amrish Puri's death was pretty much swept under the carpet? One news item. No decent eulogy. On rediff there was a lot more.

Just cought a program called "Current Bollywood" on Sony Television. When our dog-headed friend talked about the fate of Swades at the box office. He said, "when a man watches the suffering of poor people and we see him sit for 15 mintues thinking, while doing nothing, it's all bullshit".

God - India desperately needs some good film critic(s). The theory that "the quantity of quality critics is directly proportional to the quantity of quality films made" has to be applied here.

Personally I thought Swadesh was a very good film. It felt like I was watching the movie in a ‘house of flying daggers’, which with unrelenting compassion pierced my heart and made me bleed with grief. The movie was designed for NRIs and I am sure it achieved what it set out to do.

Obviously this idiot has no clue of the concept of 'cinematic time'....in any case he has clearly what is often termed as a 'manufacturing defect'....i rest my case.

It's comforting to see that others HATE IndiaFM.com's movie reviewer, Taran Adarsh. Just take a look at this "review" of "Sarkar": http://www.indiafm.com/reviews/05/sarkar/index.shtml. Notice that every plot detail is happily unfolded; this is not a "review" — it's not even a "synopsis": this is KILLING a movie. I'd be a LOT angrier if I'd read this before seeing the film, but, even now, I'M PISSED. MOST of this guy's reviews are HORRIBLE. He PRAISED "Jo Bole So Nihaal," one of the year's WORST films (that's more than "just my opinion"...watch the film). Down with Taran Adarsh.

There is only one way to read Taran Adarsh's reviews, if you must read them, is to read the first para and the last para only. Never read the body of the review, not unless you want a scene by scene description of the film, along with some dialouges that is.
