It seems like now these Nationals don't have any Guidelines! But just a bunch of wankas, try to follow their personal agendas!!

Why did not RANI got NATIONAL for HUM TUM???

That's exactly it.

And as for Rani - the committee wanted to stray away from the "popular" choices (such as her and SRK for Swades). Saif, I think, they felt would be a shocker choice and make them look different and ground-breaking (whatever that means).

And on a personal note, if it came down to giving a National Award to either Saif or Rani for Hum Tum, I'd gladly hand the honor to the former. I can't understand this overwhelming love for Rani's bland, everyday performance.

he should make a film on how lobbying and just favoritism plays a big role in these fake indian awards. and how having relatives on the jury staff makes a big deal. how having powerful star parents can help you get awards and if your name is shah rukh khan you will likely win an award each year for one thing or another. also how sponsers favor certain directors each year and their films too.

More Brickbats For National Awards As Regional Bias Accusations Comes In

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The controversy over the National awards has been given a new twist by a member of parliament,Rajeev Shukla . The MP has written a letter to the I&B minister , criticising the haphazard criteria, for selection of the jury . He explains , " All I am asking for is , why should should a filmmaker be allowed to chair the awards jury every year ? He is obviously likely to have vested interest in the matter . He can misuse his influence to cast actors in his forthcoming films or favour actors he has worked with before ."

However , filmmaker Sudhir Mishra , who chaired this year's jury , said that there was nothing wrong in having a filmmaker to chair the jury as " after all , movies are a directors medium ."

Meanwhile , the choice of films for awards this year has also faced criticism down South . People connected with the Malayalam film , 'Kaizcha' , have blamed Keralite jury member Mohan for not lobbying for the film - which has won a number of awrads locally - at any stage . They have also blamed the North Indian lobby for working against South Indian films and prevailing upon the jury to name Saif ali Khan for the best actor award .

I would give the award to anyone other than saif. It is a shame.

Its funny, because in a recent function, the greatest comedian of India, none other than Nagesh, mentioned that many ppl asked him why he wasnt confered with any awards and he also wondered why he didnt get any award, and he found out that people has to lobby for him to get any award. With out knowing this he was thinking that he is not all that best.

There are only very few SI artists who has fame across India. From south, its pretty much ARR, Kamal, Manirathnam. Thats it. Others didnt make it, though they are more talented than even the above mentioned SI people.

I finally saw Hum-Tum last weekend and i am now quite amazed at this decision - hell they should have given it to him for Dil Chata Hai , i pretty much see no difference between the two roles !. (BTW - second 1/2 of hum-tum is not my cup-of-tea and was twitching in my chair all the way till credits rolled in) .

Nagesh is indeed a great actor - recently saw Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal (pyramid DVD) and was blown away by his subtley-over-the-top performance . DU how can u forget IR - he has won 3 national awards :)

If you ask me, out of all films Saif did, excluding EHT and Parineeta to some extent he has been doing THE SAME ROLE! till he perfected it and got Nationaly acclaimed!

Next should be Sallu, he has been doing same thing for ages very successfully too with very little or no range, whatsoever!

The National Awards lost their credibility almost 16 - 17 yrs ago. They are now as stupid as any other commercial film awarsa in India.

PS: Believe it or not, Rajesh Khanna, one of the most successful stars and also a great actor who has given some outstanding performances, never won the National Award.

Rajesh Khanna won filmfare awards three times - Saccha Jhootha, Anand & Aavishkaar
